Apple begins hiring for first Thai store in capital of Bangkok
Apple has started hiring for a store in Bangkok, its first in Thailand, adding to a group of upcoming international expansions.
The company is hiring in all roles, including searching for a U.S.-based Expert to travel overseas. Listings were discovered by local news site The Nation, though an Apple spokesperson told the publication that both the location of the store and its opening date are being kept secret.
"We're excited to begin hiring the team that will open our first Apple Store in Thailand," the company said in a statement. "Bangkok is one of Asia's leading cultural and tourism centres, with a vibrant design and architectural scene."
Thais currently have to shop online or visit third-party resellers if they want Apple products. The closest first-party stores are otherwise in China and Singapore.
Earlier this summer, rumors suggested that a Bangkok outlet would would open "by 2018" in the Iconsiam, and span over 21,000 square feet. The company has also allegedly considered stores at CentralWorld, Central Embassy, and/or Siam Paragon.
Other countries slated to get their first Apple stores in the near future include Austria and South Korea. The company's U.S. efforts have largely turned to renovations and relocations, since most major cities are well-covered.
