So earlier I had read one source that believed Google had worked with Snap on the Google Clips camera. They did not. This was done partnering with Movidius. There's far more to it than a first glance might imply, and TechCrunch is far better at explaining it than I could hope to be. https://techcrunch.com/2017/10/04/the-hard-tech-behind-googles-simple-clips-camera/
I guess Mom has to find out why little Johnny is taking the Sears Catalog into his room and locking the door...now she will have her answers....after she puts tape over the light of course
WTF does this even mean? Sears catalog? what?
You just show how young you are, back in the days when playboy first came out, boy who could not get their hands on a playboy would sneak a peek at the women underwear section of the Sears Catalog.
$249 for a useless camera no one will ever buy? Google is nuts.
It actually looks like Google is actually attempting to make a profit on the product. Google with their new financial management is making sure product are not sold at lost in hopes to make the difference up on ads. Every product has to stand on its own. Problem is Google does not have very good brand recognition for being a hardware company. They will sell some, but not enough to make a whole lot of difference.

This catalog you refer to...was it available to download from a dial-up bbs? Or compuserve or aol? Or was it like a printed thing like the Saturday Evening Post?
Transceiver is not right at an opening in the skull, check.
Looks NATURAL. check.
Does not make people burst into laughter upon sight, check.
When cruising around Ibiza, Carib, LA you can actually understand all the nasty things the Dutch are saying, check.
Sadly, would be very trivial to cause it to keep a copy of its transcript, complete with ML descriptions of background noise and GPS tags. I know that can be done with say any Android device or SmartTV, but this device is actually designed to do it..lol

Really? Translate REQUIRES a Pixel? Most high-performance Android phones have Google Assistant baked in, should've been the only requirement.
They did the same with Assistant - launched on Pixel and then added to other flavours of Android later. Perhaps it gives them a means of upselling the Pixel or perhaps they just need time to work out the tech

The world needs companies like Google that are willing to try something out that might not work. I doubt they'll sell millions but it may eventually help them develop tech that can be squeezed into phones, glasses or security cams that everyone wants. We all benefit when companies push the boundaries
This is for the ultimate narcissist who is already sharing everything about their lives; anyone buying would already be all in having no private existence and poster child for being Google's ultimate client..

If you're referring to the Clips camera I think it's more like something likely to be found on some baby shower gift lists. BTW It doesn't upload anything to Google AFAICT from reading about it, unless you decide to upload it yourself for sharing or whatever.
