T-Mobile (which seems to be unlocked with T-Mobile SIM this year) right from the get go gave 2 to 3 week delivery which is BS. Even a few minutes after I placed my order using my two stored favorites, I could see AT&T and Verizon phones available for pickup in NYC on 3-Nov. I highly doubt T-Mobile sold out in less than 60 seconds. Total BS and 2nd class citizen treatment. I'm really peeved.
I heard that Apple streamlined the process for iPhone owners who are already signed up on the Upgrade Program. They were able to pre-authorize themselves for upgrading, and they probably were the first to complete their iPhone X pre-orders. That will be me next year. :-) Just like Jnoel.
I tried two years to sign-up for that program in-store and was never successful. The employees helping me couldn't get the bank to approve as the servers were always down, so I stuck with purchasing in full each year. Quite annoying. Maybe I'll try again this year. Would switch back to AT&T if they had free international usage like T-Mobile.
Website started to work for me around 12:08 when phone app was still telling me to check back. Signed in, and website told me to complete purchase on the iPhone app, which still wasn’t live. Around 12:16, app started to work, but had errors. Eventually got in, and saw November 23 delivery, or pick up November 3 at local store (256 Space Gray AT&T).
Even though I had gone through the pre-order steps through the IUP, I had to put my name first and last name back into my billing details(?!). My payment card was switched to a different card than what I had set up. I selected to pick up at my local store, set a time, hit purchase, and then was told that my local store didn’t have my model. Had to submit purchase several times, while the app kept coaching me to try again. I think I’m getting mine around the 23rd, but I’m not quite sure anything actually worked. I guess I’ll know when I get the e-mail that was promised on the last screen.
App Store was back online at 3:05 EDT not 3:01. It looks like some VIP folks were given priority. But anyways, thankfully I was able to grab one 256gb space grey, unlocked, arriving on 3rd November. Placed another order right after and that one is arriving in 2-3 weeks. Hell C$1,727 for a phone.
Nonsense, there aren’t any VIPs on the app. We don’t know which minute they flipped the switch, nor what sort of load balancers are in use. Way more demand than capacity.
It was BS in the US. The iOS app didn't open until 2:16 cdt, while apple.com didn't open until 2:11 cdt. I went through apple.com because the iOS app wasn't working. First thing it said was shipping 2-3 weeks. My shipping says November 17th to November 27th. I was steadily refreshing from 1:56 cdt until it opened at 2:11am cdt. I have a store just 10 min from my house. It wouldn't have mattered anyway because the store didn't open until 10 minutes after it was supposed to. Apple never gets it right.
Incorrect, I done by 2:06 CST, US. The servers are surely load balanced and simply can’t serve everybody at once. The demand is crushing and there are only so many to go round.
Nothing worked right for me except the delivery date--kind of. I saved a favorite but still had to reconfigure. I prechecked with at&t even though my phone is unlocked. Still got routed through that. First check then failed. First payment attempt failed. I still got in-store pickup 3 Nov. The only issue I had with the pickup was that the 8-8:30 window was no longer available when the payment processed. I started thinking "here we go...an endless loop of window no longer available." But I ended up with 8:30-9. I got lucky, I guess. Last year, everything went perfectly, and I got 2-3 weeks. Maybe it's just a crap shoot.
Using Spectrum WiFi in NYC, both my Mac's browser and my iPhone Apple Store app became available at exactly the same time (about 10 minutes past 3:01am). Did anyone else find they got in faster from NYC?
NYC here also. I’m on FiOS. I finally opened up for me at about 3:07am. I’m on the upgrade program and already had my pre-selection so I just had to order. I’m with T-Mobile and the delivery was already 2-3 weeks which sucks. My wife decided last minute tonight that she wanted to upgrade from her 7, she’s also on the upgrade program, but by that point the store was already down so she couldn’t pre-select. Citizens Bank servers must be getting hammered because it said it couldn’t process her application at that time. Was still quoting 2-3 weeks when I submitted the order for her so we’ll see if she still gets that delivery window once the applications also go through.
I ordered my Product RED silicone case like I do every year and they quoted me a delivery date of the 31st. I’m going to be pissed if I have to have that case sitting there mocking me for 3 weeks before the actual phone gets here.
Thanks payeco. At least I have a bit of comfort that I didn't screw up and you found a similar experience. I have sent Apple a complaint that T-Mobile customers are treated like second-class citizens. It's really BS for ultra-loyal customers (or perhaps psychotic would be a more accurate term) who buy a new phone every year to not be able to get day a 1 option.

WTF - tried to order through t-mobile and would not come up at all. Gave up and ordered through Apple online as apple store app wouldn’t load until much later. 2-3 weeks delivery time
Finally got my email and the account says I have the order but still waiting for my wife’s email.
Still waiting on that. Ah well. I’ll check back later today. Yawn.
I have to say I got my confirmation email with order number less than a minute after placing my order. Can anyone confirm if T-Mobile phones were offered for in-store pickup at all? I suspect the 2-3 week shipping was all they offered since it seemed like I was on early and ordered my "favorites" within < 60 seconds.

I never even got through to t-mobile - ended up ordering through Apple online. T-mobile totally blew it!!! I’m headed to their store first thing to see what I can do there
After hitting the submit button a million times, I finally called T-Mobile and the lady on the phone helped me with the pre-order. Didn’t even have to wait. Except that apparently my order went through already online without letting me know it did... glad I called. Expected shipment for me is 11/2-11/3.
I got in via the app at 12:04. I had already pre-registered, so it was a fast two button process, took less than 30 seconds. However, the ship date was already November 10-17. I'm wondering how many other T-Mobile customers got in quickly but still did not get the November 3rd shipping date.
Here’s a shocker! The Apple Store app said if I wanted to pick it up from the Clarendon store in VA, I could do so on Thursday 2nd!!! unfortunately that’s not on my way to work.
Did anyone else see the 2nd as an option? Wish I took a screenshot.

Was able to get Verizon's order page to pop a little earlier but went with direct order from Apple.
Could not get apple.com page to open as quickly as the others previously mentioned.
Delivery Friday November 3rd - didn't think that would happen!

What s frustrating experience!
