'Alpine White' version of DJI Mavic Pro drone is an Apple store exclusive

in General Discussion
DJI has launched a limited-edition "Alpine White" version of the Mavic Pro, a 4K camera drone which can be viewed and controlled through an iOS app. The special color option will be available exclusively through Apple's retail channels and DJI's own outlets in most countries.

The Mavic Pro Alpine White is being offered as part of a "Holiday Combo," which is meant to help users quickly start using the drone with all of the essential items they will need. The package includes a remote controller, two extra Intelligent Flight Batteries, two extra pairs of propellers, memory card, and other important accessories.

As well as the drone itself, DJI has altered the dark coloring of the propellers and the remote controller to the same Alpine White for a consistent appearance. The LEDs on the corners of the drone retain their coloring, along with the power indicators on the top, with DJI also scaling back some of the decals applied to the drone itself compared to the standard version.

The DJI Mavic Pro Alpine White is a compact drone with folding propeller arms and propellers, allowing it to fit into a relatively small storage space. Capable of flying for up to 27 minutes on a full charge and at a speed of up to 40 miles per hour in Sport Mode, the unit includes a 4K camera on a three-axis gimbal, which is capable of recording 4K video at 30 frames per second, and 1080p video at 96 frames per second.

While it can be controlled via the companion app running on an iPhone or iPad over Wi-Fi at short range, the controller can be used to boost the range to 4.3 miles. Attaching to an iPhone with its fold-out arms and integrated Lightning connector, the controller can take the basic flight controls away from the iPhone, allowing it to be used for more advanced features, such as to view maps of an area and to track the drone's movements.

The entire package retails for $1,049, with it available to purchase today from the online Apple Store and DJI's website. Starting from Nov. 16, the package will go on sale in select Apple Store locations, as well as DJI's own stores.
