Qualcomm has already lost a number of cases to the tune of billions including a binding arbitration to shell of a company known as Blackberry.
If qualcomm cannot win against the likes of Blackberry, they are in very deep trouble when it comes to Apple.
In fact, once Apple wins, Samsung will follow suit in abandoning QCOM products, even competing directly against the Snapdragon line of SOCs with the Exynos.
QCOM is about to lose their two biggest customers. Perhaps they can make it up by charging the likes of Huawei, HTC and Google higher prices for their Snapdragon chips. Perhaps not as Samsung will be offering a better Exynos chip at lower prices.
There is going to be two dominant companies in mobile, Samsung and Apple. Qualcomm is essentially finished and Google will be the next one squeezed out of the mobile market.
