macOS High Sierra 10.13.2 now available after a month of testing

Apple is continuing the OS upgrade march it began on Saturday with a release of High Sierra 10.13.2, with improvements to compatibility for "certain" USB audio devices, and VoiceOver navigation while viewing PDFs.




The macOS High Sierra 10.13.2 release is mostly a maintenance release with few added features other than support for introductory app pricing with auto-renewable subscriptions. The latest High Sierra also permanently fixes the Root account generation flaw that was hastily patched a week ago.

Apple's macOS update also includes full support for connectivity between the other updates released in the last week, including the midnight unveiling of iOS 11.2 that fixed a notification center issue that was crashing the iPhone and iPad Springboard.

Apple's Thunderbolt 3 external GPU support continues to advance with this release. However, without a third-party hack, native support remains limited to the AMD Radeon RX 470, 480, 570, and 580 series cards.

It is not clear what the USB compatibility improvements for audio devices entails. The update also improves compatibility of Braille displays with Mail.

The last beta version was released on Dec. 1, and was build 17C85a. The release version is build 17C88 and is a 4.8GB download.

    This is probably a prerequisite for the iMac Pro.  Maybe it will start shipping this month...

    Looking at the security portion of this update I see the I_AM_ROOT fix listed once more. Hopefully this will un-confuse the issue about earlier versions and update sequences and finally put the issue to rest. And it requires a restart to boot.

    Hope this fixes my issues with the Astro A50 Wireless which uses a USB connected base.   It's been problematic since 10.13 on a 2017 iMac 5K.

    You are confused. Of course High Sierra supports Fusion drives and always has from the very beginning. Millions of people are using High Sierra with their Fusion drives without issues. Are you thinking of something else? Could you be more specific? Do you mean does APFS now support Fusion drives?

    The naysayers just got through raking Apple over the coals for introducing too many features and not enough bug and stability fixes. The naysayers just demanded Apple make High Sierra the “fixed" version like Snow Leopard. And now you want more features? Which is it, features or bug fixes?

    Apple has already stated the iMac Pro will be available in December. Typically yeah, they don't release new products in December, but I doubt this will be a big Christmas seller. Its not meant to be a consumer end iMac as you can tell by the starting price and configuration(s). 

    So, since Apple said it will be available in December, that probably means it will be available on December 31st. lol

    The question isn’t why one would want a Time Machine volume to be APFS, but rather, why one would want an existing APFS volume to be available for Time Machine (without reformatting). And that seems obvious (to me at least).

    Because they really don't know what they're talking about...they just want to whine and complain. Let me guess...if Steve were here this wouldn't have happened?

    True, they did say that. Just like the MP from 2013. Released in its final days. Oh well, we'll see. But not everyone is happy about Apple announcing it 6 months earlier, and now leave people guessing if they can make it a 2017 investment, tax-wise. The darn machine may even be slower than the 5k iMac:

    Finally this MacOS update resolved the problem with the F4 key getting disabled when iTunes started or when playing videos on my new MBP with Touchbar.  It was really causing a productivity loss with me.
