/QUOTE]Whatever the case, I am really excited to receive my Pismo and I just made a deal with someone to get an airport card for it too. How is the airport reception on these things? I know airport on PBs tends to be lousy[/QB][/QUOTE]

    Congrats, you will be happy.

The Airport reception is waaayy better than with the Titaniums, there is no metal casing shielding the signal, and the antenna is all around the the base.

I use it all the time in Software Base Station mode (we often do commercials out of hotels, and this way everyone is connected without much ado).

This is also the main reason why i do run 10.2.2 - Rendevous over Airport.

Don't disregard running Jaguar on your Pismo without trying it first.

Indeed, to spreadsheets it doesn't make DANG ( )of a difference if you do them in Classic or X - other than that it is way more attrctive to work on them in X.

Bottom line - you will see where you work and Airport works much better.

I'd recommend more Ram though, it makes all the difference.

    Cheers,

the pismo finally arrived today. it is a really great machine! at first i wasn't getting squat for airport reception, but after updating the OS from 9.0.4 to 9.2.1 and updating to version 2.0.4 of the airport drivers, the reception is now great.

so now i can sit here on my couch unattached posting on AI while watching tv. I no longer have to choose between tv and the internet!

the pismo is quite snappy and lovely in OS 9. if i get brave, i might throw jaguar on here, but i'm really enjoying running 9 on here.

i set up a share on my powermac (100gb hard drive) where i can plop some big stuff from the pismo (10gb hard drive). the setup is quite nice. i need some good way of synchronizing info between this machine and my powermac. isync probably doesn't touch OS 9 does it?
