Apple should stop acting as a BigBrother. Let the courts determine what is illegal in their own countries. The Telegram app itself has nothing wrong.
Um...last I knew child pornography was illegal in most countries around the world. I don't think it takes a genius to know this. I don't what stick you have up your ass about Apple but all you do is post negative things about Apple in every topic. Why are you here if thats all you want to do?
okay, do not use telegram, and not 100% sure what it does, but how did Apple determine that users were posting stuff they should not have been, the app says it is encrypted communications. Does Apple have back door? also does Apple monitor its own messaging app for illegal content that user my be transmitting to one another? They obviously did not catch Anthony Wiener.
Stop spreading FUD -- there are no Apple backdoors. They've said this time and time again, and they'd be crucified if they were lying.
If you'd spent 10 seconds doing research you'd find the facts of the Weiner case have nothing to do with what you claimed. Wiener was using other tools for his illegal sexting with the minor:
"The 15-year-old girl initially contacted Weiner through a direct message on Twitter in January 2016. Weiner and the girl continued to communicate on social media sites, including Facebook Messenger, Skype, Kik, Confide and Snapchat. ... Weiner asked the teen to 'engage in sexually explicit conduct via Skype and Snapchat, where her body was on display, and where she was asked to sexually perform for him'"
As for Telegram, I'm sure somebody tipped off somebody.
Did Apple take any of those other apps off like twitter, facebook, etc? Not that I'm aware of. Seems like there was nothing wrong with thus messaging app either, but some 3rd party plugin. So I still don't get why the app was pulled like it was. Ban the plugin. Get the people passing around the pictures since it wasn't encrypted, problem solved.
In your zeal to blame Apple, I guess you guys keep overlooking this fact -- that Apple pulled the apps until they'd added the ability to report child pornographers:
"Telegram and Telegram X were only allowed back once this was completed and controls were put in place to prevent a repeat incident."
...yes, big bad Apple, requiring app devs to implement some tools to reduce or report child pornographers. Twitter and Facebook already have tools to reduce and report sex criminals.
You guys are whack.
I am sure someone use safari, chrome, Firefox to download illegal stuff and child porn. Why not Apple pull all these apps and make sure no child porn will ever be able to download by these apps?
i am all for stopping all child porn, let’s torture and kill all those fucker. But it seems Apple is blame one small app and let the big one go.
Many people under dictatorship use Telegram to community with other activists. And.many more people use it for normal chat. It seems Apple condemned the app and community just because of some bad apples.

It might just as simple as a person posted a screenshot of said activities and reported it to Apple.

It was pretty clear that he meant the app does not have tool to report illegal activities, which is why it against the rule and was pulled. As simple as that.
Do iMessage, Mail, Safari, or any other Apple apps have built-in tools to report illegal activity? No. Time to pull them from everyone’s iDevices until the situation is rectified, right? Wrong. Apple are being heavy-handed and over-reacting without regard to the impact on millions of law-abiding people who have paid handsomely for their products. We need a law to rein them in and make them treat us with respect.

I am pretty sure iMessage, Mail and Safari are encrypted end-to-end, unlike Telegram which rolled their own “encryption”, which hasn’t been peer reviewed. I highly doubt that it’s actually secure. Also iMessage, Mail and Safari are not exactly Telegram, which is closer to Facebook type, which is both 'broadcasting' and one-to-one message. I am sure with that kind of feature, Apple would not allow the apps without built-in tools to report illegal activity.

In order to let courts determine it, Apple reported the content to the proper authorities.

I'm 100% sure that if FaceBook somehow slipped and allowed such content and someone reported it to Apple, they would pull the FB app as well till the matter was resolved.

Pray tell, what would that law look like? "Companies offering software delivery platforms shall not implement any quality control gates or otherwise limit access to the platform, even in the case where the submitted software violates US or other laws."

It was a plug-in for Telegram that provided access to the illegal content.
and where is the illegal content kept and why was apple employees looking at it. Have to wonder about those employees. Maybe Apple hires people in India to look for images which are not allowed.Facebook does this, they have rooms full of indian workers which look at all the pictures you all post and determine if they are acceptable to others to view.
Nope, you're just making stuff up now. You should take up creative writing rather than put those skills into posts here.
This is a rewrite of a US article i could not find the original, however, because you do not know about it does not mean it is not happening. if you have offensive picture out there some poor person has to look at it and determine if others are allow to see it. This has been going on for years. Go educate yourself.

Are you fucking serious? Apple has clear rules for their app store -- no app shall be used to distribute child pornography. Period. If this is upsetting to you then you're fucked in the head. (And note that Safari doesn't distribute web content, it browses it, which is why they wouldn't pull Safari if someone used it to browse child porn).
Go peddle your FUD nonsense on an Android site, as you're clearly from outer space on every discussion you've contributed to here. You hate Apple, we get it. Tell your handlers you tried but no one on AI wanted to listen to you.
You are pretty dense, since you could not even tell I was just questioning what Apple was doing and how anyone knows for sure what they were doing, I was not focusing on the one subject for obvious reason.
You do not know as fact what Apple was doing. Let me put this way, if you were an app developer and someone claim that your app allowed people to do illegal things should your app be pulled until you figure out a way to stop people from using your app for illegal activities. I suspect you are probably against guns and gun manufacturers should be held accountable for criminal activities, or maybe the automobile companies should be held responsible for people's bad driving and the accidents they cause.
I just want to know how Apple knows for a fact the App was promoting people to do illegal activities within the app. To your point, iMessages, SnapChat, instregram and many other messages app should all be pulled since there are already actual police arrests of people caught with child porn on their iPhone which was transmitted via those apps and possible through apple servers. Oh they were taking by the iphone camera. How is this any different than what this app may or may not have been doing. Why isn't apple using their AI technology to spot photos like this and reporting the people (which are mostly kids) to the police. Why doesn't Apple disable the camera from taking offensive photos. You know high end color photocopiers will not allow you to take picture of money, if you do it black the page. If photocopy companies figure this out years ago what is taken apple so long to stop naked photos of kids. I can search my photo library using key works so the software is there to recognize images. I am assuming you did not know this so for your reference so you can educate yourself. This is how it done today, back in the 90's the software was just able to recognize it was money no tricks in the money needed.
BTW that was the second time Wiener was caught, remember his "d**k" pictures he was sending via text messages. Also I do not care what method he was using you we getting caught up in a minor detail when I was talking about the over issue who responsibility is to make sure app do not allow illegal activity. It is not Apple or any companies job to police what people do with the product they bought and paid for.
This telegram app is so bad. I just bump in to a group today. the group sharing child photography heavily. so sad what i saw there. there is no way to report that group. no report functions for groups. I can only report individual content in that group. it is almost a day passed since i complain them. nothing happened. i took some screenshots of that group if there is any way to report on this.
