Apple chose HEIF as their default format, if they made a poor choice they should pay the penalty for it. Most users won’t be changing from the default.

Here I was, thinking that DxOMark’s assessments were already being established as paid advertisement! There is absolutely no science, or any kind of unbiased method, at all, behind their “evaluations”.

I know it’s a fine line to thread, but in these cut and dried cases, AI editorial staff could elect to ignore “news” of this kind.

What happens when a phone reaches 100? Do they stop testing in perpetuity? I’m half joking.

It’s not rated out of 100, the score can go higher.

The ability of the S9's camera aperture to switch is quite impressive for a smartphone camera.  Cool piece of tech.  As long as Apple's competitors continue to innovate and push the boundaries that will just force Apple to continue to improve.  I have no interest in an S9, but I like that it has outperformed my X (at least in this test's results), so future iPhones should continue to improve.  Win win for everyone!

So it gets 99, the Pixel 98 and the iPhone 97.

I think “trump” is a poor choice of words.

”Barely beats” or “very slightly exceeds” would be more appropriate.
I strongly suspect that particular word was chosen for SEO (search engine optimization). No one chooses that word accidentally, especially not now.
