Law enforcement officials in a press conference confirmed one female suspect died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, while three injuries were transferred to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, reports Variety. Aside from the suspected shooter, no fatalities have been reported.

Word of the shooting surfaced on Twitter shortly after 2 p.m. local time, with witnesses reporting gunshots at the San Bruno facility. Employees ran for cover and barricaded themselves in office rooms in their flee for safety, according to multiple tweets.

The San Bruno Police Department confirmed responding to the incident, but offered little information aside from a warning urging people to stay away from the area. Surrounding streets and sections of Interstate 280 were shut down to . Approximately one hour after YouTube employees' first tweets, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives issued its own tweet saying agents were on the scene.

A spokesperson from Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital has confirmed receiving injuries from the scene, but declined to provide a number as it is "still receiving patients," CNBC reports.

An account of the event by Todd Sherman, product manager at YouTube, describes a chaotic scene. Employees initially thought an earthquake had hit, but the rumbling turned out to be people running from apparent gunfire. While evacuating, word spread that someone with a gun was on campus.

Sherman reported seeing blood on the floor and stairs before making his way out of the building and informing arriving police of the situation. He heard from a colleague that the shooter may have committed suicide.

YouTube owner Google in a tweet said it is coordinating with authorities and will provide "official information" on the matter as it becomes available.

New information indicates that the female shooter killed her boyfriend and herself. No idea if she also worked at YouTube. Everything is looking like a crime of passion.

For those of us old enough to remember, this is like a reverse Richard Farley - Laura Black situation (back in 1984). Only the woman appears to be the stalker/shooter (shooter definitely, stalker remains to be seen).

Nope.  It's not.  Please don't try to imply that it is.
