Now that Apple has GoTo new iPad(with pencil support), Apple needs to address education market with GoTo laptops. The definition of GoTo MAC laptops are every highschool, college kid want it, buys with out thinking because it is decent(not great) Spec at relatively affordable price.

Maybe this could be what Apple has in mind for the MacBook Air ... up the processor, graphics, and storage speed to current standards, but keep everything else pretty much the way it is, and sell it for half as much as it currently sells for with EDU discount. The Chromebook will still beat it on price but not in any other way.

The reason Chromebook is as dominant as it is, is due to the user management of it. Setting up a school with google accounts and managing them is dead simple, compared to anything Apple has. Google is currently 10x better than Apple in this one area, which makes it such an easy choice in addition to the price. If you can't beat them on administration, and you can't beat them on price, it doesn't matter what else you can do in this market.
