Mavericks/Win 7 boot camp issues

Hi all, I have an issue. My iMac is from early 2009, 6GB ram, 2.4GHz 1TB HDD, running Mavericks, 27"(?) display. Installed Win 7 64-bit w/SP1 on a 350GB NTFS partition. When I tried to install Boot Camp, got a message that it wasn't supported in my version of Windoze (the usual MSoft bull).

I tried to boot back to Mavericks, no luck. I have tried every start up key combo, with a recovery cd and a recovery thumb drive; nada.

So, now Win 7 has crashed. All I get when I try to boot is the old PC 'missing operating systen' error message.

My plan is to use my old MacBook Pro and my EIDE/SATA to USB interface, remove the drive from the iMac, reformat it with the MacBook and restore from backup. Does anyone have any suggestions for an easier method?

Thanks in advance, namaste.

Firewire target disk mode should do it, if you've got another machine to connect it to in that mode.

Thanks for the input Mike but I can't access target disk mode either.
