I bought the iP 8plus in the fall. Like many potential buyers, I thought long and hard about the X. Also, went back and forth. In the end I just know the “notch” would of driven me nuts. Face ID? Not interested. Glad I got the 8plus.
So when Apple eventually does away with Touch ID will you move away from iPhone?
I have the 8 Plus also but for different reasons. After I was able to hold and use the X I felt that I was giving up screen real estate when compared to my current 7 Plus, so I went with the 8 Plus in hopes of a larger X style this year.
Where do you get your comparison pricing? Google Pixel 2 XL is $549 or $649 right now at Verizon. How much is the iPhone X? I'll help you out -- $999 and $1149. Not even close. Galaxy S9+ is $629. Not even close to $1000 (which is the LOW END of the iPhone X).
As pointed out above, the price I used was the original retail price of the higher-end Pixel 2 XL, which may have changed since Google has thus far not sold very many (of any model) of them. That said, you are missing the point: there are other phones (including one very popular Android model) that do (or at least did) retail for close to $1000. This proves there is a market for them; Apple did not collude with Samsung or Google to raise phone prices. As I originally noted, the iPhone X is still the most expensive of the bunch -- but not by a huge amount, particularly if you are paying for it on an instalment plan. The monthly cost of the iPhone X is 41.66; the monthly cost of the GP2XL is (was) $39.58.
