As it has done in years past, Apple will present live streaming coverage of the Worldwide Developers Conference 2018 keynote event, offering those unable to attend a glimpse at this year's upcoming software platform updates.

WWDC 2018

Announced in an update to its official WWDC 2018 webpage on Tuesday, the livestream is slated begin at 10 a.m. on June 4. So far, the company has only confirmed web access to the stream, though other formats like Apple TV will likely be announced in the days leading up to the event.

Developers and users interested in seeing what Apple has in store for 2018 can tune into the live broadcast via an embedded player to be made available on the company's events website. Apple recommends viewing on an iOS device running iOS 10 or later, a Mac using Safari on macOS Sierra 10.12 or later, or a PC running Microsoft Edge in Windows 10.

Apple earlier today sent out invitations to the keynote event where company executives are expected to detail new iOS, macOS, tvOS and watchOS features. Following the kickoff at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, developers will be able to take part in more than 100 learning sessions presented by Apple engineers, hands-on labs and special talks.

While not confirmed, Apple could use the keynote event as an opportunity to launch new hardware. Rumors leading up to next month's convention suggest a redesigned iPad Pro with TrueDepth camera and Face ID could be ripe for unveiling. It was at WWDC 2017 that the company revealed the current iPad Pro line.

Other rumblings point to the release of a MacBook Pro refresh, an updated "iPhone SE 2" handset and low-cost HomePod.

AppleInsider will be providing live, on-the-scene coverage of WWDC 2018 from June 4.

I think I'll watch this one, if I'm available that morning. I've skipped the last few after being too disappointed to waste the time for the last couple years.
Apple, show me what ya got, or let me know it's time to head elsewhere, please.

In my opinion, if you've been disappointed over the last couple of years, nothing this year would change your mind. Changes are becoming more and more iterative and evolutionary. I think it's time to move on to greener pastures.

I know an iMac update is expected, but how pressing of a need is there for that?

In contrast, the MacBook Pro is suffering. The keyboard is problematic, the Touch Bar needs to go, FaceID would be very helpful and the RAM upgrade issue is getting louder. Euthanizing the Touch Bar might help with pricing as well.

So I think the MacBook Pro needs to be the star of WWDC 2018. (Which probably means we're getting an iMac update. )

Yep, that's what I'm wanting to find out. And, the problem is that I'm not sure there are greener pastures, but I'm getting sick of the browning grass over here.

Iterative is fine... put some darn new chips and ports in the existing stuff! I just hate wasting an hour or two to see some dancing emojis and employees building pop-song lists. That's more like devolving.

Of course, in Apple's eyes, maybe the iMac is the computer we 'truck' users are all supposed to get. The rest should be moving to iPads.
(This is my fear... hope I'm wrong.)

Lol “greener pastures” ... like what? Google’s privacy-destroying creepy AI bots that will improve robocalls and scammer efficiency 100x (with more ads for for you)? Amazon’s relentless hijacking of the US economy, bringing more low-paying warehouse jobs to the US while further enriching China, beating Walmart at its own game? Windows? Don’t make me laugh.

Yes, exactly. That's why I'm saying there aren't greener pastures on the other side... but that doesn't mean we should let our own grass die either.
