I have never used Google maps, use Apple only. My default search engine is Bing. Somehow I lead a normal life. Fuck Google and the stolen iPhone OS they rode in on.
We need @gatorguy to explain why this is not really true and how Google remains the poster boy for truth, justice, and the American Way.
I already posted about this earlier today, calling it borderline deceptive
I also took the time to explain how to fix it. You shouldn't have to, companies should be more clear and group similar menu options together. But they don't. And that's wrong
‘Borderline?’ Seriously?
That's the only line you saw? Seriously? You might read on just a bit further...
Big exposé presented this morning on NBC Today Show about Google’s tracking behavior and how to reduce but not completely stop the tracking. Hoda Kotb, Savanah Guthrie, et al sitting there with their iPhones as the presenter took them through all the hoops necessary to “manage” Google’s tracking of them. The Schadenfreude was strong within me. But, bottom line, nobody cares that their every move is being tracked by somebody. It’s a c’est la goddamn vie attitude with the public. Lots of protestations but little pressure for change. For most privacy is secondary to convenience.

Yeah, it probably stood out because there was nothing “borderline”about it.
This is a blatant breach of their users’ request for privacy. Nothing less.

Figured you might be along in a moment....
@Rayz2016 Since you know far more about iOS than me (obviously), does tapping Location Services in iOS11 and then toggling that to "off" actually turn off all Location logging from that point on? It may, I dunno.

Indeed. Google gives you free stuff. So how did we think they were making their money?

And you know, given that Google gets government money... it sounds to me like there’s an actual constitutional violation here. And with other things Google does, for that matter.

They all get government money. I think I've posted solid examples of that for you before. IIRC Apple for example gets a kickback portion of already collected sales tax revenues in some jurisdictions as a benefit of accepting an invitation to build there. Example, Iowa.
