It doesn't make sense to do anything useful when our real business is overcompensating the muckety-mucks and our investors, who make all the money but earn none of it.
Leave the advancements to people who are willing to do the work, and gain the knowledge.
We just want to count our money rather than do anything that counts.
Shame. Competition is healthy despite what some here think.
What are you talking about? Appleinsider & its readers are not stupid. Competition is always healthy.
Like Steve Jobs said ‘For Apple to succeed, Microsoft does not have to lose’
Agreed but I would add even more. Apple is a niche company. Microsoft has had about 90% desktop OS marketshare for over 20 years. Google Android has had about 80% mobile OS marketshare for several years.
By understanding basic facts and Apple’s business model, it is understood that Apple has always had strong competition.

You’ve actually gotten it backwards. These days, Microsoft is more of a niche company than Apple. Google too.
you can pick two areas and act as though they define companies when they do not. It’s the overall company that matters. Now that Apple’s sales are more than twice that of Microsoft and well over twice that of Google, for someone to say that about them is nothing more than ignorance.
I think you guys missed an important parameter here; AMD pulled out if Global Foundries! The lost a major customer that is in the midst of a comeback. That is likely due to being way behind on 7nm.
AMD fought long and hard to get back to performance parity and sometime better performance than Intel could offer. They arent about to let that effort go to waste due to a fab company that cant give them an advantage.
It is sad to see this happen but the glory days of Silicon are over. We will need to see a completely new tech in 5-8 years or technology development will come to a complete halt. There is lots of competition for that new tech so we might get lucky and be saved from stagnation. On the otherhand companies like Apple may need to resort to more chips or bigger chips which drive up costs.
By the way this is also why i see Apple needing to move to ARM in their Macs. The smaller CPUs mean mire room on chip for other things.
Shame. Competition is healthy despite what some here think.
If you’re talking about Nunzy then I’m afraid you’ve been had. He’s just here to give the community a bad name.
Not just Nunzy. Just look for comments by many other people on Samsung/Google/Qualcomm etc. Having said that, this forum is far better than many other forums, so it is not as bad as it might look like.
Er, you do realize that pointing out the shitty practices of shitty companies isn’t the same as saying “completion is bad, m’kay”

...fixed it for him. For a minute this CEO made it sound like their bad news was good news.
