Ah! That's how you do it! Thank you PestoBreath. One last question, As I stated I have Quick Time but when I right click save it moves it over to Window Media. When I save new files on my Mac will I be able to have all my files saved under Quick Time?</strong><hr></blockquote>

Yes, you can just rename a file .mov to save it as a quicktime file.

Man, I'm liking this and I haven't even got it yet. I guess it the excitement of trying something new. Hey just wondering, when I was reading around the forum and I went to one of the members fan sites. In their I got to see a home movie. I was very impressed. I thought I would like to that something like that as well. OS X has movie software but can I do things like that with it?

Most likely. iMovie that comes with every mac can do pretty amazing things for a free applications. And you can buy extensions to make it even better. We'd have to know exactly which movie you were watching to know for sure, but unless if used some REALLY professional effects, chances are you can do it (If you have a DV camera).

Sounds good. What I was wanting to do is take some movies I have a video game footage and then mix them up, add some music and basically make a homemade trailer. Is that possible?

Yes, you CAN do it, but if the videos aren't in DV format, you will need to buy Quicktime Pro ($30) and convert them. Then you can drop them in iMovie, extract and delete the sound from the clips, crop the video, and drop in the sound. All very easy.

Sounds like if Quicktime Pro is only $30 I should just go ahead and get it. It would like a good investment and be easy incurrence if any of the videos aren't DV format. Thank you iDude. Come time to get my Mac I should have a real good idea in all the things I need. Now all I need to do is wait and see if any updates are made. Thanks again guys for helping me out!

The way I've always seen it is this.. money is money, and you can't take it with you. Sure, the iMac's have not been updated, but how do you know that they will be updated this month, or next month, or the month after? The fact of the matter is, the iMac is one kickass machine and I just can't see waiting and waiting for an update. Maybe I am wrong, and maybe they'll get udpated this week, but if the man already said that he wants to switch, then I say go for it. Personally, after scoping out those new 12" powerbooks I would steer him in that direction, but it does seem that the iMac would be the ideal choice. Hell, he could even get a deal on an Apple Refurb one, or go the catalog ordering route and get some free ram and a printer. But wait? Seems kinda foolish to keep using a PC when there's so many other choices... They are always going to come out with a bigger and badder computer.. if you just sit around and wait you'll end up with nothing

    welcome aboard!

im in the same boat as you, and im waiting for new hardware maybe a powermac. on quicktime pro? get it. its the best 30 bucks ive ever spent. i currently have a pc and its great to be able to save quicktime movies i find on the web. also buying quicktime gives me access to apples tech support forums.

im torn between the small form factor of the g4 imac, and the expandability of the powermac. but wait to see if they update the imac soon before you buy. good luck!

If $$ is tight, then look for killer discounts on the current machines, as soon as they become "outdated" when the new ones are shipping. You can probably end up with more iMac/eMac than you had bargained for, such as one of the SuperDrive machines for example.

Refurbished machines are another good way to maximize the bang for the buck. smalldog.com and powermax.com are two good sources for refurbs.
