The Verge again has a "joke" review.
They say the Pixel 2 photos are "better", even when all of the ones they show are objectively worse than the Xs !
But, it's also obvious they are tayloring the test for the Pixel 2's and not stretching out the shots to use the Iphone's Xs new capability, in fact handicapping the comparison.

For those saying “you don’t blow up iPhone photos” — I have to point out that Apple has a whole series of billboards showing off the “shot on iPhone” campaign. Don’t be so arrogant about iPhone pictures.

Are they as good as full-frame, large-sensor, $10,000 cameras can take? No.

Are they, for 90 percent of the people taking pictures and what they are taking pictures of, surprisingly close? Yes.

I consider the XS a $1,000 camera thats also an iPhone.

These photos, effects and video capabilities are absolutely stunning! and they fit in your pocket!

Crazy. I predict a few films will be shot on iPhone XS soon.

Bokeh is a result of artifacts caused by lens shutter blade diffraction.  Human eyes see the depth of focus blur due to the iris getting larger without this.  Yet we photographers still cling to the idea that mechanically induced bokeh is awesome.  I hate to say it but we also introduced film grain to digitally clean video because again we missed the artifacts produced by limited technology.  Humans are funny things.

    Same thing with music.
