There are plenty of USB Bluetooth adapters on the market, from some $50 and upwards. The apple Bluetooth driver is a generic HCI driver that accepts any compliant device (modulo bugs in apple's driver, which probably will be fixed, and bugs in the devices, that may get fixed). Several devices work today, search for it.

Note that some of them, including the D-Link, don't have support for SCO - the synchronous protocol used for headsets and the like. Neither does apple's driver today, but maybe some day it will, or at least a third party could provide it, and then you could for example use your mac as a IP telephone with a bluetooth headset.

Where did you hear about this? The D-Link claims to be Bluetooth 1.1 compliant so it should support every device. The Bluetooth protocol is supposed to avoid exactly this type of stuff, and contains the same chip as every other device (it's a reference design).

I can understand the software not supporting every device yet (after all, it's a preview release) but the adapter should, D-Link don't say it doesn't (which is bad if it doesn't).

Where can I find out more?
