None of the reviews I've seen of the new Tiles mention that the replaceable battery comes at the cost of waterproofing, as well as somewhat larger size and heavier weight. The old Tile Style and Sport both were IP68 rated, meaning they could withstand being dropped in deep water for a long period of time, as well as being completely impervious to dirt and dust (the old Mate was rated for shallower water up to 1m). The new ones though are rated only IP55, meaning they can withstand just water being splashed on it at most.
I do not keep location services enabled most of the time on my iphone. With the original non-replaceable battery tiles this was not a problem. If I pressed the tile when location services was on or off my phone would ring. With the new tiles unless location services is enabled on the phone it will not ring.
