My iPhone X has easily been the best phone I’ve ever used and has had great reception.  Maybe your phone is a lemon but don’t be spreading FUD like facts.
Everyone is going to have a story. Glad yours is working out. I prefaced my comment by saying a perceived slipping of quality on my part with a follow up as to things that have occurred during my ownership. If you think that's FUD, fine.

The issue with the X has been if I talk holding the phone normally, the mic seems to cut out. "what did you say? you cut out" - is what I usually get when this happens. Happens during regular cellular and FaceTime calls. Using speakerphone or bluetooth (car or AirPods) - everything is fine. If you do some digging on the web, there are several threads related to this. Everyone offers opinions ranging from one bad device, to issues with the chosen wireless carrier, to VoLTE vs 3G, to whatever. The best answer I've found is people suspect it's a problem with the noise cancelling mics on the device and in certain situations, it picks the wrong mic or cancels out the wrong input. I keep expecting a software fix but instead, when resorting to Apple Genius appointments, they either just swap the phone or say nothing is wrong.

Each year the new phones come out with amazing features but the basics which after 10 years of production, and should be a baseline for performance (like RF), still experience issues. The WiFi and cellular complaints on the new XS are also well reported. Theories again range from chosen provider to a bad device to voodoo.  Everyone is an expert but the best explanation I've seen are here.  If you fully read and understand it, it implies an issue with antenna design and maybe some software.

For the 2012 rMBP, Apple chose two screen providers, LG and Samsung. I had two with the LG screen. Both ghosted and went through the 'Staingate' issue. For a year, Apple was silent. I also had a logic board go bad. Apple replaced everything for free, 1 yr out of warranty. Great follow through on their part but I had to wait for critical mass.

For the 2016 tbMBP, I had a battery fail to charge after 6 months. The logic board, battery and keyboard (whole top case) were replaced. Under the replacement parts, the laptop now locks up and fails to wake from sleep at least 1x per day. Even with a clean install of 10.14, I am experiencing software glitches and hiccups and the wake from sleep issues are still there.

Not FUD. Just experience. I am a savvy guy and can work around most of this. All products from all OEMs have issues but let's not pretend Apple is perfect. The tone of DED's articles come off that way, big time. Which was my original point. Apple's recent turn to wanting to be a luxury product, price hikes and increasing lock in don't help create an impression that Apple is so special above all else. All those people that I convinced to switch to Apple over the last 10 years? Every one of them is grumbling to me these days about the prices.
