I am surprised that the attacker was allowed bail. And yes, I'm always surprised when it happens here as well. I can understand it in cases where the evidence is circumstantial but based on what's been reported, this was more than that. I hope the victim keeps his head down.
Innocent until proven guilty. right? The judge judges the flight risk and the risk of the suspect committing other crimes (and factors in available jail space, no doubt) and makes a decision. Presumably he determined that the suspect didn't have a long list of other people he was going to shoot while awaiting trial.
'Sorry, I was just haven a bad moment.' Sure, it's not like he actually shot the guy, it was merely an assault with very minor injuries. Buy the guy another iPhone and it's all square. No doubt the suspect promised to behave. Boys being boys and all that.
