It's quite amazing how Mark Zuckerberg brags about their endless aisles of data centers, processing countless pieces of information, and their continuing AI effort...

And then more blunders of the most basic level keep coming out.  It doesn't matter how "smart" their systems supposedly are... when the ship is run by a bunch of monkeys, stuff will fall apart.

It's laughable how incredibly bad FB is being run right now.  Is FB's "engineers" a bunch of rookie, diploma-mill graduates?

"Right now they're working on an effort to reduce that number even more by only counting things we have currently in our data warehouse."

So.... working on an effort to massage the numbers to make them look less bad, but not trying to actually find out how many have truly been affected.
    Brilliant /s

Nobody cares. It changes nothing. Their user numbers keep growing. I don't know what it will take for people to leave. Seems no scandal will make a difference. Been FB free for 12 months and never happier.
Again, that’s the difference between the so-called tech aware group and the general public who just want their friends to see the gourmet hamburger they ordered at Red Robin.
And who have zero problem if that “secret” gets “hacked”.

I agree: once I hit “enter” I’m assuming it’s public. So meh.

    Count me as “tech indifferent”.

My MySpace password has never been compromised.

(I know you're joking, but still.  lol)
Yeah, was gonna say — I get a ton of ransom spam using my old Myspace password as bait.

Well how else are the employees going to spy on you without you knowing outside of their ad tracking, hmmm?

They're like Apple ... except that instead of new hardware or software every day this week, we get security nightmares! LOL

Here's the problem - Facebook is a HUGE company with trillions of data about their users. And it means an extremely complex system. And for you to think that a team of college graduates would solve that problem is naive. Even people with Ph.D struggle with coding for those systems. It is extremely complicated.

Making a system secure is ALWAYS ongoing, there is no such a thing as a secure system that never needs updates.  All operating systems need to be updated from time to time for security. There are always people out there trying to break into systems... just like there are always people trying to steal stuff in your houses. You can make your house as secure as possible but there will likely be some lapses that brazen thieves will do anyway.
