Naim launches second generation Mu-so AirPlay 2 speaker
Naim has taken the wraps off its second generation version of its popular luxury speaker -- Mu-so -- that builds on its already successful design with powerful new features.

The second generation Mu-so retains much of the eye-catching style with subtle improvements. For example, there is a new touch control panel on the top that is surrounded by an illuminated dial. A proximity sensor will automatically light up the unit as your hand approaches it. Around the back is a new HDMI ARC input. This allows you to use Mu-so as a soundbar for your TV effortlessly.
Mu-so now comes in a new burnished gray colorway with a black grille standard and Terracotta, Olive or Peacock as replacements.

Internally, there are all-new speaker drivers. Naim says they were optimized in a partnership with Focal that has ten times the processing power and greater audio accuracy compared to the previous generation. The redesigned cabinet internals also has improved bass.
Included with the Naim Mu-so second generation is a new wireless remote that includes support for some of the new features.
Just like with the first generation model that AppleInsider reviewed, AirPlay 2 is supported which allows for easy streaming from any Apple device. AirPlay 2 also brings multi-room support with any other AirPlay 2 devices. If you don't use AirPlay 2, you can use Google home/Chromecast or Naim's own multi-room connection instead.
Additional inputs, which were present on the original model, include Spotify Connect, Tidal, Bluetooth, Internet radio, or UPnP wirelessly or USB input, Optical Digital input and 3.5mm analog for wired.
The Naim Mu-so second generation will be available at retailers starting May 9th for $1599. The original is still available for $999.
