'Pokemon Masters' coming to iPhone this summer
The Pokemon Company company and DeNA Co. have announced a new game, Pokemon Masters, allowing players to form teams and engage in real-time battles.
The Pokemon Company has been busy lately, first with Pokemon Sleep, announced in May, and now with the announcement of their newest game, Pokemon Masters.
Pokemon Masters takes place on the island of Pasio, a new locale for the Pokemon series. The game will feature selected Trainers from every prior series, allowing players to team up with them for 3-on-3, real-time battles.
At launch, there will be 65 sync pairs -- a combination of a Trainer and their partner Pokemon -- for players to recruit, with additional pairs to be added later.
Players will explore Pasio and meet various Trainers through the story, and be able to form a three-person team. Players will battle AI opponents, as opposed to other real-world players.
Battle will require players to manage their move gauge, which depletes with actions and refills over time, to find the perfect moment to unleash a barrage of moves-- all while their opponent is doing the same.
The Pokemon franchise is largely known for it's story-driven, turn-based gameplay, but Pokemon Go and Pokemon Masters have added alternative styles of gameplay.
Pokemon Masters is set to release at some point this summer.
