Very good. You don’t need to surrender your Wi-Fi password to Kasa Smart whose servers are hosted in the Communist Party China.
So this company is Chinese?
Yes, TP-Link is Mainland Chinese.
I'm not really arguing with you, but a company with a physical presence in country X does not necessarily mean that they are incorporated in country X. For example, Foxconn has its factories in mainland China but it's not a Chinese company - it's Taiwanese. And yet the press usually calls them a "Chinese company."
According to China, being Taiwanese is being Chinese. You know, since the Chinese government claims it owns Taiwan.
And China tends to get persnickety when others don't pretend to believe it.
Yeh, Yeh, just like we get persnickety when people claim we don't own California.
I quick read through Wikipedia would've stopped you from posting this and embarrassing yourself in public.
What specifically in Wikipedia tells you that Hong Kong is not a Chinese territory -- as in (so far) "One country, two systems"? You can't just make stuff up to suit your political agenda like our president seems to do.
Um, @GeorgeBMac, the comment that started that part of the discussion was about Foxconn and Taiwan, not Hong Kong.
Sorry, saying HongKong was a slip. But the point remains: Like HongKong, Taiwan is part of China under their "One Country, Two Systems" policy. NO country (except our own Dotard in Chief) recognizes Taiwan as anything except part of China.
The state of HomeKit this far along is really sad.
Apple should be able to walk and chew gum at the same time. The excuse for the lapse of up to date Macs, the mini and Pro in particular, the abandonment of the AirPort product line and missing out on the first mover advantage with Apple TV was what? Lack of resources?
Hardly. Apple spent billions on the spaceship. They seem to have plenty of money for stock buybacks and to hand out to Hollywood producers.
This is a valid complaint about Apple under Tim Cook. Too much stuff is left out in the marketplace outdated and uncompetitive and their tendency to drop stuff with little to no advance notice does not encourage companies to go all in on proprietary Apple stuff.
Jeff Bezos runs Amazon and Blue Origin and seems to have no problem expanding the operations and products in both. Elon Musk likewise is able to multi-task at Tesla (now including Solar City) and SpaceX. Are we to accept that Apple cannot keep the cell business up to spec and take care of the Mac, iCloud and such? Maybe if they stopped wasting time trying to be Disney that could dedicate a few people and Dollars to advancing things like HomeKit.
