Additionally, with the departure of IDG World Expo chief Charlie Greco, one of IDG's most adamant supporters of the Macworld Boston show is gone ... all bets are off, and no one really knows what 2004 will bring.

Yes, Greco is gone. But IDG is based near Boston and most of their east coast shows are transitioning to the new convention center (or are already based in the Hynes and WTC Boston).

Plus, IDG's contract with the City of Boston is not going to be easily broken. I still doubt Apple will risk any bad PR over this. We'll just have to see when they sign the deal.

Let's hope that they sign the deal soon. I'm sure that a lot of people who are following this want to see another summer Keynote. I sure know that I want to. Especially if they announce the new PPC 970 this summer, but they can do that anytime though. Just the fact of releasing the 970, if they do, at a MacWorld Show would drive the crowd crazy.

well, it seems WWDC is being moved to a few weeks before MWNY03... how does that effect the situation?

No effect. I don't believe it's related in any way.

    Nick,

What do you think of this whole moving WWDC? Do you think that we will see a preview of the 970 or at least a hint toward it or actual release?

    My first thought was:

"Well, Apple plans to replace MacWorld with WWDC in the future"

But then I remembered the target audience of each event.

    And the expen$e of WWDC.

So Fran's got the Boston angle covered and Nick's got the hotsy insider contacts. Battle of the spies!

Please don't pit what I've said against Think Secret's. I'm no 'spy'.

Nick can have that business all to himself. I've just heard things being from the Boston area and the tech industry (and from being interested in MWNY and MW Boston).

So if you want 'inside info', listen to Nick and ThinkSecret.

Yes Nick, Kudos. Just give us some dirt on the 970 now and I will be content.
