Apple releases tvOS 13 GM seed to developers for testing

Apple is getting closer to releasing tvOS 13 to the public, with the provision of the gold master version of the operating system to developers for testing indicating it is nearing showtime.

The gold master build can be acquired from the Apple Beta Software Program website, alongside other betas Apple conducts, with new builds able to be downloaded from the site or through an over-the-air update on an Apple TV already enrolled in the beta.

The GM seed is build number 17J5584a, the same build as the 11th developer beta which Apple issued on Wednesday. The production of a GM seed is usually an indicator that Apple is happy with the operating system's current state, and with minimal further changes expected for the release candidate, if any.

Just as with the developer betas, AppleInsider, and Apple itself, strongly recommend users don't install the betas on primary devices or hardware they deem as "mission critical" at all, as there is the highly remote possibility of data loss or other issues. Testers should instead install betas onto secondary or non-essential devices as a safer alternative, and to always make sure there are sufficient backups of important data before updating.

You can see adoption progress on this developer website from his own statistic. 6.4 % now. Driven mainly by XS Max users. And new phones missing from graphs. https://david-smith.org/iosversionstats/

Another half-assed tvOS excuse for an update.

I wish all games would download into that joystick icon. Kinda like a TV App for games.

Looks like it will release on the 24th along with iOS13.1 and iPadOS. Now I'll cross my fingers that Catalina's October date will end up being a week later on the 1st.

Compared to other Apple products this should be the worst tvOS release. iOS 13 is even getting shared listening to wireless headsets/AirPods. Hopefully tvOS updates get better from now on.

Hoping for a new Apple TV announced this year.

Yet neither post contradicts the other.

Anyone else had an issue with the beta software option being removed in an earlier tvOS beta? I can’t toggle beta updates off now and not sure what to do for it other than Hope it fixes with GM or maybe a reset
