Apple Maps on my iPad here in Seattle shows Crimea as part of Russia, not Ukraine.
The story literally says: "Apple said that the changes to labeling and nationality of the Crimea Peninsula were made only to Russian users of Apple Maps, and not outside of the country."
GoogleGuy hasn't shown up to say how much better Google handled it, so I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that Google has already complied with the Russian point of view.
@StrangeDays Well I had just accepted that you were right without properly looking for myself. An article at another site this morning indicated you might be wrong. After reading some other sources including the links below apparently Google did not do exactly "the same thing".
It's been claimed Apple had wanted to do the same as Google and list it as undefined too, but ultimately gave in to Russian demands that it be shown as Russian territory. The EU is reported today to be unhappy about that decision.

Rather than showing it as part of Russia, Google Maps displays Crimea as “undefined territory”, in dispute as it were.
