I would understand  $49 pricing but $49.99? Seems like a gas station
It’s called human psychology and EVERYBODY does it because it works. If you put two items next to each other, price one $4.99 and the other $5.00, people will only see the 4 and the 5, not the .99, and think the $4.99 one is a dollar cheaper. Nonsense I know but it works subconsciously. If you really wanted to go full gas station you would price it $4.99 and 9 tenths which is even more strange these days but people still react as if 1 tenth of a cent makes a difference. Companies have entire divisions working on human psychology and pricing strategies. We consumers don’t even notice it when we react to it.
Again, I said I would understand $49. It seems more like $40 than $50. I get the whole 9 thing. I don’t get the adding of 99 cents to a $49 product. Seems silly.

I’ve subscribed, but I don’t own any Xbox or PlayStation controllers and using my phone or a mouse or an ATV remote isn’t fun for me, and I don’t want to buy 1 or 2 $30 controllers just to use Arcade.  And of the games that I tried many were aimed too much at kids-kids, not teens- and they were too simple along with repetitious for me to stay engaged. I don’t know exactly what I was expecting but this wasn’t it.

I'm a subscriber. I mostly focus on two key games, but I dabble around with others since I have the freedom to do that. Definitely worth the price of a cup of (fancy) coffee per MONTH for me in terms of entertainment value.

I just signed up for free month - it’s a good value if you play a lot. Apple could have handled the ‘experience’ better. When I signed up and downloaded a few games on my AppleTV, they simply showed at the bottom of the menu like any other app - nothing special, no folder, separate Arcade menu or even an indicator that it’s a ‘premium’ Arcade title. What would really help is a few ‘A title’ games (better graphics, more depth, multiplayer) to attract more serious gamers - closer to what a console offers... but then again I realize Arcade, at least at this point, is not going after that market - it’s more likely to attract the ‘Nintendo’ gaming crowd. Last comment - the better looking the game, the more memory you need, I can see lack of storage becoming an issue quickly for many. Cue up the next version of AppleTV with 512GB+ of memory, updated processor, a handful of A titles, and Apple could be a player in a new market.
