Those who whine 'bias' when this subject comes up need to remember that Apple is moving hard into content delivery. News is content. If the GOP had not shut out challenges to their ticket, Apple would have provided support to their debates as well.
You say that like its a bad thing. Every incumbent shuts out challenges. Clinton never debated in his re-election and neither did Obama.

Facebook was previously a co-host for the 2012 and 2016 electoral debates, but there is no word on why the social network isn't doing the same for 2020.
I'd certainly assume they want to avoid the appearance of being invested in politics altogether in this particular election cycle. Wise move IMO. Their name has come up too often already in connection with the previous two presidential elections and almost universally negative. I guess Apple thinks the potential positives for their business will outweigh the negatives.
It’s a bad move and Tim should know better. Unfortunately, he’s not able to keep his personal political biases out of it and that viewpoint will undoubtedly taint Apple News’ coverage. Steve Jobs at least knew to always keep the focus on Apple.
Steve Jobs hosted Bill Clinton at his home during campaigns. He contributed cash to and provided Mac hardware to several Democratic campaigns. Also, he sent new models of iPhones to President Obama before any of us got them. If he was alive today, I'm pretty sure he would be pretty active in the resistance. He would have never went to the White House like Tim did.
“Resistance” I have to laugh every time someone uses that term. You all have been watching too much Star Wars.
Star Wars invented "resistance" regarding a war?

In the current climate it would never get governmental approval. Everything with big tech is being scrutinized. Especially with Apple already investing a fair amount to be a competitor shrinking that pool ain't gonna happen now or in the near future, not unless Apple wants to subject themselves to a splitting up of the company, media services as a separately run company for instance. Actually that might be good for investors.

I am very uncomfortable with the idea of a corporation the size of Apple partnering with anyone on election coverage. Any corporation really. This is a by product of Apple getting into content, and worse, the increasing need to be engaged with politicians and lobby groups to be able to do business.

    It’s a bad idea.

20% of red states canceled their primaries. It wasn't the 'incumbent.' It was the party. If there was a fair Republican primary, Individual 1 would be in bigger trouble than he is now. And they know it. They don't care what their voters want.
LOL, no he wouldn’t. His current approval numbers are higher than Obama’s were at the same point of his presidency and Obama never had to deal with a hostile press corps. Were you in favor of a challenger to the incumbent then?

No but it makes about as much sense in those stupid movies as anyone use it in real life.

"This election is one of the most consequential in modern history, and this unprecedented partnership with Apple News will deliver our world-class political journalism to more people than ever before," said James Goldston, president of ABC News. "It will enable millions more people to have a deeper understanding of the key issues, candidates and events by providing straightforward information, insight and context during the entire 2020 cycle — reaching our audience anywhere and anytime they want breaking and in-depth news.

For once, I'd love to hear someone say:

"This election is mundane.  Nothing to see here.  In fact, we're not covering it more than 3 minutes in our newscasts.  In our lifetime, I expect that this election will go down as the least interesting inconsequential elections to ever be put to a ballot," said Rufus Scrimjaw, president of MSABCBS News.  "Enabling trillions of people to access this information and having a deeper understanding of key events will most likely bore them after a few minutes, so we'll keep the advertising off the site that will distract them into taking a look at The secrets on Gilligan's Island, What really happened to Michael Landon, or The Kardashian's tell what secrets they have left.  We will have breaking news in the campaign, if it warrants, but it'll have to be momentous, like whether a candidate used an improper participle, or used 'who' instead of 'whom' in a sentence.  I think that will be about the extent of anything newsworthy."

It is contemptible that these anti democratic cry babies claim they are a “resistance” like they were actually risking life and limb like the French in world war 2. shameful.

Make rational arguments that convince people to vote a certain way next time, sure. Pretend you are living a dangerous life like the French fighting against the  likes of the National Socialist Workers Party? Grow up.

That happened under GWB too. Primaries are expensive and states don’t want to pay for them when they know what the outcome is going to be.

Oh because the word "socialist" is in his / her statement you think it applies to ALL socialist supporters? Ever heard of Social Security? Yes it came from our socialist leaning government as an insurance for all Americans who did not have a stock portfolio or saving to feed themselves when they got old. Seriously do a little deeper into history and the meaning and use of words.

Wow, that went WAY over your head.

And by the way, bragging about social security? LOL, crowning achievement it is not...

Don't know what that is but Rasmussen confirms it. That could change at any moment but don't kid yourself that Trump is universally hated and Obama was universally loved. FiveThirtyEight has them neck and neck. Again, not too bad considering all the hostile press coverage Trump has received.

I ask again, considering those approval numbers are so close, you think Obama should have had to make his way through a series of debates?

I'll answer that for you so you don't have to embarrass yourself. No incumbent party in modern times will ever do that.

Oh joy! Now I can read all of the election year fake news in Apple News. Apple should partner with more than one news source.
