Can they be optional? if they can then I'm all for that being an option... if not then I'd have to keep them... UNLESS the member rating feature thing could be beefed up... I just hope this gets sorted out before my 1000th post (which sadly wont go into SAR)

there are some people way too hung up about post counts. Not to mention the fact that the numbers you see over there are, for some, incredibly skewed, because some people don't have anything better to do with their lives than to boost their post counts in Silicon Alley (thank god that's gone).
post counts are stupid, but even more so considering that everyone here knows that some of the highest ones are bogus.

I would say there a less than 5 members who have shown that they post just to increase their post count. the overwhelming majority does not.
I think they should be shown. There is no reason not to, they can be helpful, it looks better, and i think its a fun measurement
