Posting icons are small emoticons that users can apply to each post- i.e. if you have a question, you can apply a question mark icon to be shown in that post.

    Nah

I'd rather have signature icons or whatever you call the ones under your username. Uhh, user icons?

I'm glad to see the Mods asking for our opinions.

The current software doesn't allow 'avatars' - the little pictures under your name in the posting column. I don't know how well I'd be able to persuade the NN guys to hack our UBB to allow them...

if we are going to have icons that show we are asking a question, what is ? this for? or new topics? redundant in my mind and too flashy... KISS

No, I don't think so. It's usefulness doesn't override the simplicity of the forums.

Topic-relative icons are just another tool for the lazy mind for some poster who would rather pick and icon and have a poor topic description when in fact we need super-clear topic descriptions.

Example 1: [Question mark icon] Entourage v.X

Example 2: Entourage won't download News server list

The second is more what I'd like and I think topic icons would discourage people putting more time and effort into their descriptions.

So I'm going to have to vote NO for this.

It's a pity that you can't do any hacks without having to ask the NN guys.

    As for your poll: Nope...
