If the guy ever commits a felony against Tim Cook I'm sure Apple will help the FBI to successfully find a way to hack into his iPhone to get proof of guilt.
So because a sick person aggressively stalks an Apple employee it is to be assumed that this person uses an iPhone? Do better...

So the senior leader ship team for one of the richest companies on the planet doesn’t have 24 x 7 security at their home residence?  And you can just walk through a gate up to the front door of the house?
My point exactly with the first post regarding that Tim should at the very least have full HomeKit security enabled, to understand not only who’s at his gate, and then his door, but how effective HomeKit and its approved peripherals are and where things need improvement.  Maybe he already does.
Perhaps Tim prefers not to live in fear, I'm sure there is a lock on the front door though.

Did you ever think that perhaps people don't want to live in fear with 24/7 security monitoring?  If nothing like this has ever happened to him before, and there is nothing here to say it has.. why would he need that?  Just because he works for one of the richest companies in the world? Think about that for a minute?

Tim should have his home fully HomeKit enabled, right?  Even with prototype gear since the HomeKit ecosystem is sorely lacking options that are fully capable and compliant.
Sorely lacking what options? I have lights, switches, outlets, multiple environment sensors, etc. There are also cameras, locks, thermostats, etc etc. What exactly is it missing?

I wonder how many tech executives have this issue with someone stalking them. I bet it’s more than you think.

Its pretty scary that this sicko got that close to Tim. Too bad Apple Global security doesn’t have a cleaner on staff. That would make the problem “disappear”.
There are a lot of mentally deranged people in California.
And in rural flyover country. And in the south. And in the mountains. And in the woods.

Do you realize how stupid what you said sounds?

Nope. No backdoors will be created, you can bet on it.

Nothing stopping the FBI from hiring outside hardware hackers, as they have already done. No backdoor needed, but nice try.

You never saw Steve Jobs last house? Unlike the Bezos and Gates of the world, it wasn't a compound protected by the police, it was just a house.

Yes just like every other state in the union however at least there is outreach and a system in place to help those in need of professional mental health. The less densely populated area's have a worse mental health problem because it goes unchecked. My brother and his wife live in rural PA and work in that profession so this is based on fact and not state bias like your statement was.

Certain mental illnesses do definitely make people incapable of making rational and responsible choices. Even common mental illnesses like OCD and depression can damage their ability to make competent decisions.  Unfortunately, if they make poor decisions, they do not get the right to get away with them.

Takes a creep to violate someone’s privacy. Tim is a very private man and we should all respect that. Unfortunately there are some nuts out there.
The guy is probably suffering from a mental illness.
Too often used as an excuse for wrongdoing. Somebody acts wrong and they hide behind “oh my brain is sick” and get treated like a victim instead of a perpetrator.

Mental illness is a real thing. Let’s not take something like this idiot and disrespect those actually suffering by lumping him in with them.
This guy clearly has mental health issues. A simple search shows his family members and friends have been worried about him for some time. His rantings are scary and Tim Cook & Apple should make sure he gets nowhere near him and other employees again.
There are actual bad people in existence. It doesn't mean they aren't functioning properly. It means they make poor moral choices that affect the way they develop. that's not an illness. It's the human condition and needs to be addressed on a moral level. there are those who actually have not only disorders, which are not brought on by illness, but rather poor upbringing, habits, or need of developing self-control. Then there are those who legitimately have chemical issues. this guy is not unaware of what he is doing or the fact that it is wrong. He seems to be very calculating. He is not ill. He is simply making bad choices. With someone like that, his family is right to be concerned.

I don’t know what kind of security Mr. Cook has at his residence. But Apple reported that it spent nearly a half million dollars last year on personal security services for Mr. Cook.

Of course they don’t, they are not royalty or politicians or leaders of a country.
They have the exact same standing in life and society as you do, do you have 24 hour security personnel at home?

Plus it’s a cost the Apple board will need to justify to its share holders, security of Apples properties and real estate is perfectly fine, protection of a member of Apples staff private home that they bought from their personal earnings and wealth is not, unless you can justify it.
The share holders could quite rationally argue it’s a personal problem for said member of staff they will need to personally cover the costs for.

No, he is quite ill. His family members and friends have been pleading with him to return to assistance and to take his meds. His stalking and other bad behavior appears to have been triggered by a few tragedies in a short period of time. And possibly being taken advantage of by his alleged rapist while in this state. Cook and other Apple people aren't the only group he has harassed, which includes celebs and family members.

Tim took a logical, reasoned approach. He got a restraining order. I'm less reasonable. I'd get a Belgian Malinois or a Mandalorian.

I'd wager that security is for his various travels and possibly transportation to and from home and points in between.

Don't be ridiculous. 24/7 security can encompass any number of countermeasures, only one aspect being security personnel, to which you may be alluding. Tim could easily foot the bill for private security, armed or not, 24/7, if he wanted it. And if he wanted it and at Apple's expense, I have no doubt he'd get it.

ANYBODY can get 24/7 security, whatever that may encounter, if they have the money. For my money it's a Malinois.
