I agree with you _alliance_ but the big J won't respond, I bet As far as I know he's still pissed off at me --> "so, in short, stop being an idiot here, or I will stop you" as stated by Jonathon.

And still no apology..so I guess I'll continue on

[quote]the only way it will have any effect is if you do it publicly.

have you tried contacting the person you have a problem with? did you give them a day or so to respond? did they?

[quote]they publicly close things they "decide" are right or not. if we do it privately, then they will have the ability to ignore you.

please explain who the mystery "they" are. you sound like a raving lunatic going off about how "they' are after you, and "they" are out to get you.

is it a person, a few people, everyone, the girl down the street? i can promise you i've never locked a thread of yours, so saying i'm after you doesn't hold much water with me.

[quote]but if you do it in front of everyone, then people will understand exactly what the mods are doing and will respond in the same way.

and what way is that exactly?

[quote]i agree w/ phd. if the thread is popular, it will stay. if its shit, then noone will respond and it will go away.

yeah, i pretty much agree with that. however, you can get two or three idiots who constantly spam a thread, thus keeping it alive forever when it's totally worthless. have you read through your thread you're so pissed off about? it's crap. innane chatter about who's post count is going up faster.

[quote]if its inappopriate, then close it. but if its locked simply because they decide they dont think its a good thread, then thats bullshit. back off mods. let us keep at least a little of our dignity and be able to post honestly without fear of being edited/locked.

really? please explain which of the following posts in that thread had anything to do with keeping your dignity.

    this sandwich ain't half bad.

another board i post at has a thread like this thats up to a couple hundred pages. pretty easy to get it goin, and its self-sufficient...

Randy Johnson is one ugly bitch... hmm, almost dignified

the Big Rats already struck out 6 through 2 innings. he's gonna get 27...

    i'm thinking: sarcasm...?

why stop there? besides, everyone knows you dont get respect til you have a least a couple hundred...

oh, was this where your dignity started? is this where you were afraid of being editited. such striking posts, it's no wonder all the mods were afraid to let you post such insightful witty commentary

    vertical horizon is so incredible...

their acoustic work rivals the best out there...

damn, this is as good as it gets... good god. a real post. too bad it's an answer to your last post. SPAM on!

if you've ever listened to their earlier work, you'd at least realize that it's great mood music. and yes, im serious that they are damn good with acoustic/folksy type sounds.

what are you referring to as spam??

    blah blah blah blah.

followed by another 30 posts of blather.

so in a thread with a total of 120 posts, over 40 are yours. half are replies to yourself, almost all are crap.

do you honestly not understand why that garbage was closed?

Of course they haven't tried contacting us directly, alcimedes, they want attention. They want to act like they are being oppressed and they want to suck their thumb, pout and stomp on the ground about it.

I get 0 e-mails/private messages with actual questions or suggestions.

And in case you haven't noticed, airing out grievances in such a melodramatic fashion gets you nowhere. Try the preferred method first and see if that does the trick, if not, then burst forth in melodramatic sing-song.

Have some patience. Believe it or not, people have lives besides AI (I know I shouldn't be saying that ) so maybe they just haven't gotten around to reading or replying to your email.

Defiant (and others too), you seem like a decent person, you just need to calm down and not take things so seriously on a freakin message board.

When I say "they" I mean those who griped at me directly before and shortly after the creation of FC. Right now it's directed at alliance, who has shown that he wants nothing more than attention, failing to grasp the very simple order of operations, choosing instead to throw tantrums.

These things do nothing but cause bad feelings throughout the boards and are best addressed through the proper channels.

here's the deal. if moderators dont go by the rules, then why should i? in my thread earlier, it was the MODERATORS who were bitching and whining about how they didnt like my thread. but did they take it up w/ me and send me a private message/email? nope. they just kept on criticizing and bitching, not even giving it a chance. give me a break...

    you thread.

    120 posts

    40 were yours

    many were replies to yourself.

i would hardly say that isn't giving your thread a "chance"

    120 posts isn't giving it a chance?

and what rules aren't they going by? and once again, who's they.

who do you have a problem with alliance? stop crying, start doing something about it.

if you want to solve the problem act like it, this self pity act is sad.

no pity needed. actually i find this amusing. it's not just my problem. im just saying something now cause no one else is, yet others agree that some mods are getting quite extreme. if you wanna know who "them" is, just go look in my thread that you find so fascinating. i know u people stick together, so really theres no point arguing w/ any of you. cause yer not fallible, right? afterall, most of the mods are around 20 or 21 years of age, so no, of course you guys know exactly what yer doing and theres no point in saying otherwise...

if you dont like what i, or others, say in a particular thread, then dont click on it. theres nothing offensive in the thread i started, merely just casual conversation. and yet u treat it like its so terrible. the 'whatre u listening to thread' is almost exactly what mine was intended to be, and yet that one is embraced, and even locked just to be restarted. both threads had the same useless quality in terms of posts, and yet you choose which one stays. interesting indeed...

the main difference is that the "what are you listening to thread" isn't over 30% one person posting, replying to themselves.

that is likely why your thread is gone and the "what are you listening to" thread is not.

most of my posts on that were in response to what other people were saying (most of that was responding to critical posts by moderators). the rest were addressing the topic of the thread. is this really so difficult for you to see? or are you just satisfied from the start that anything i say isn't worth listening to...?

lol, if that's really how you see it.

guess that's why written guidelines will be a good idea.

oh well, sorry you think anyone's really got it out for you that badly. i honestly don't think it's the case, and to me it's obvious why the thread was closed.

i'm just used to being able to have an opinion without be chastised for it. another forum i post at has very little moderation and things go very smoothly. it isnt patrolled constantly by dozens of moderaters who feel the need to always be butting in. instead, its basically just free running. sometimes arguments errupts, but nothing that requires censorship. if theres something bad enuff, then one of the 2 moderators is automatically notified and the problem is fixed simply. locking isnt a daily habit like it is here. maybe i'm just spoiled by having free speech in some places, i dunno. i guess i shouldnt expect to be able to even have simple, "pointless" threads here without the mods feeling they NEED to do something about it...

i think the most ironic thing is that this other forum is a bunch of college students. its funny how college students can handle the responsibility of posting on a forum and keeping it sane better than the majority of adult posters that we have here...

    oh well...

    c'est la vie...

Strange i always supposed that students where adults (J/k).

A guideline is on the way, i think it will clarify many things, it will be a guideline for everyone Moderators included.

I can forget this hole thing. It's not important or whatsoever. And you, Alliance and Alcimedes and Groverat, calm down. Take it easy, and manage it private.

    After all it's just a BB !

yep. i dunno what happened here recently, but it's getting to be a real pain and annoyance to see all this locking. 90% is for no discernable reason - no vulgarity, spamming, etc. The occasional errant post in the wrong area should be moved, but what's happening now is disruptive to finding out what viewers come here for.

Future and current hardware, and OS X are really well-behaved fora. They'll only be harmed by this obsessive and needless locking and moving. The quality of posters here is very good and I have enjoyed it daily for quite a while. I'd hate to see frustration make it less active.

Seriously, I'd like to know where you people get this kind of idea.
