Apple has released a trailer for "Trying," an Apple TV+ comedy about the trials and tribulations of a couple who are unable to have a child attempting to convince an adoption panel they are suitable parents.

Trying

Originally announced in January, the YouTube trailer for Apple TV 's "Trying" shows off Apple's first attempt at a British television show. A comedy, the show centers around Nikki and Jason, a couple played by Ester Smith and Rafe Spall, who are trying to start a family.

After multiple failed attempts to get pregnant, the couple elect to go through the adoption process, with the show following that journey. Making things harder for the couple is a need to prove their worth to an adoption panel, despite "their dysfunctional friends, screwball family, and chaotic lives" potentially getting in the way.

Along with Smith and Spall, the show features BAFTA award-winner Imelda Staunton, Ophelia Lovibond, and Oliver Chris. Written by Andy Wolton, the show is a joint production of Apple TV+ and BBC Studios.

All episodes of Trying will be available to watch on May 1 via the Apple TV app as part of the Apple TV+ subscription.

I'm suprised to see the BBC collaborating with Apple.  Will the series be shown on British TV as well as Apple TV+ then?

A problem common in the western world. The social worker nazis can be extremely selective in the way they try to social engineer the utopia they envision. Having been a close observer with a few couples going through the process in my country, if you even smell like you would have a run of the mill nuclear family you can forget it. Better to move overseas for a while and adopt that way. It will be a quicker process.

Social engineer what utopia? Can you be more specific?

Looks a terrific series and coming from the BBC only enforces that it will be very good and no doubt sharp humour. Can't wait to see. Great to see Apple collaborating with the BBC.

BBC Studios is not the same as BBC itself. They are just the production house, I doubt if it will be shown on BBC channels or BBC Worldwide .

Sure, BBC Studios is the (fairly new) production house, but have they ever made anything that wasn't shown on the BBC?  This is pretty new ground.
