I wonder why the HomePod isn’t enjoying the same success. The sound quality is awesome

AirPod and AirPod Pro are still products of failure to many people who have partial hearing loss in one ear. One day, that may past already, that you and me reached the threshold of “ageing” in hearing.

AP / APP should fix the problem of losing sound, especially bass, in the ear of severe hearing loss.

The solution? Return AP / APP to Apple and get a pair of wireless bone conductive earphone, such as Aeropex from AfterShokz.

It's hard to forget how so many people were whining, moaning and complaining about the headphone jack being removed from the iPhone and due to that removal Apple changed the entire smartphone industry with offering wireless earbuds. It was great for Apple and it certainly seems an awful lot of consumers are happy to use wireless earbuds. I honestly never saw what the big complaint was in getting rid of the headphone jack as long as there was something to replace it. I used either wired or wireless headphone because I didn't mind switching over from time to time. I always laughed at the blowhards claiming they would never buy a smartphone without a headphone jack. I wonder how that's working out for them.

I had been using BT headphones long before Apple removed the headphone jack, so the impact wasn't all that great to me. Of course, I did believe that the headphone jack removal would help in making the iPhone water-resistant and provide more room for some internal components. Maybe I was just trying to justify the removal. Anyway, most of the smartphone industry is enjoying selling third-party wireless headphones and Apple was the cause of it. Instant hate turned into gradual love.

My original AirPods are just now starting to die. I bought them on the first day they were available, just before Christmas in 2016. They lasted quite a bit longer than 18 months for me. The weird part is how they are dying. The battery only lasts for about 90 minutes but when I put them back to charge they charge back to 95% in less than 10 minutes. Not that it matters much since I mostly use the AirPods Pro now. Also bought on the first day they were available.

I still use my APs too tho, on walks and whatnot where I want to hear my surroundings too.

Why not just use your airpods pro with transparency mode turned on?
APP are sealed into your ears, turning Transparency on turns on mics to hear the outside world, but it's a simulation and not the same as just hear via un-plugged ears. Also, it uses power as noted. And I have two pair, so why not.

What? How does this make AirPods a failure? They provide balance settings in Accessibility settings, what more do you want?
