Here's a slightly different slant on the MB Air vs MBPro 13" debate.

My wife has a late 2013 Retina MB Pro 13" i7 with 16Gb.

I spent 20 years using Apple laptops very very intensely day and night, always the latest MP Pro 15", and only changed to a new laptop when the old one went kaput (or was given a brand new replacement) so usually 4 to 6 years to a change. They have all been extremely reliable and fast, so I would normally go for the Pro.

However, when I left back in Dec 2018 and wanted to get my own machine, it needed to be light, and the new MB Air had just come out, so I bought that, with 16Gb Ram and a 512Gb SSD (runs Mojave).

I can categorically say that my wife's Pro is better in just about every way. The keyboard (just cannot get used to the short travel on the recent laptops) is way better, the screen is much better, the speed of the machine at 7 years old is considerably faster that the Air which is 1.5 years old. The Pro has been through the wars having been dropped way too many times, used by our grandchildren very often, but still is running at full tilt. I must admit, I cannot get over how fast this machine still is (runs Mojave).

So, when the time comes to change, I'll be back to a Pro. A little bit heavier, but much much longer lasting, also hoping the new version of the keyboard is much better than the short travel one on my Air.
