Privacy has continued to be a theme for Apple, and we saw that during WWDC 2020 where a whole segment was dedicated to talking it up.

Sign in with Apple was announced during the 2019 developer's conference and developers have seen great success when implementing it. Sign in with Apple keeps your information private, reducing the need for additional passwords, and sending your personal information to the developer.

Apple says that apps, such as Kayak, have seen much better usage from users thanks to Sign in with Apple. Kayak reported users were twice as likely to prefer Sign in with Apple over creating a manual account.

New with iOS 14, developers can now allow users to convert their existing accounts to a Sign in with Apple account which keeps your existing account but affords you the benefits of an Apple account.

Apps will also now be more transparent about their use of the camera or microphone. When they are used, an orange status indicator will appear.

There is also much more transparency around tracking. Apps will now have to alert you if they plan to track you when sharing your information with websites or apps owned by other companies.

Finally, iOS 14 is bringing the equivalent to a privacy-focused nutrition label to the App Store. Now users can see the privacy policy of apps prior to downloading or using them. It will let you know what information the app tracks and if any of it is shared. This will be coming to all of Apple's App Stores.

Keep tuned to AppleInsider for everything new from WWDC 2020.
