'The Morning Show' leads Apple TV+ Emmy Award nominations
Stars of the Apple TV+ show "The Morning Show" have been nominated in the Emmy Awards, with Steve Carell and Jennifer Aniston receiving one nomination each alongside other show nominations.

Announced on Tuesday, the nominations for the 72nd Emmy Awards listed many actors and actresses, along with TV shows, that stand to win an award during the September 20 televised ceremony. The virtual ceremony, hosted by Leslie Jones, included nominations for one of the first shows available to view on Apple TV+, and arguably its most prominent.
For "The Morning Show," The Hollywood Reporter reports Steve Carell secured a nomination for Best Actor in a Drama Series, for his role as Mitch Kessler, a co-host fired from the show-within-a-show amid allegations of sexual harassment.
Jennifer Aniston, an executive producer and a lead on the show, was nominated for Best Actress in a Drama Series for playing Alex Levy, the co-host of the in-show program.
The nominations in the main Emmy Awards follows shortly after the service won awards during the 47th Annual Daytime Emmys, with "Ghostwriter" and "Peanuts in Space: Secrets of Apollo 10" winning one award each.
"The Morning Show" has already had an impressive run with previous awards, including Aniston acquiring a Screen Actors Guild award and Billy Crudup securing one at the Critics Choice Awards.
There were other nominations for "The Morning Show," including Outstanding Support Actor in a Drama Series for Billy Crudup and Mark Duplass, Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for Martin Short, Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for Mimi Leder, and Outstanding Main Theme Design.
"The Beastie Boys Story" was in second place on the Apple TV+ roster in terms of nominations, for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special, Outstanding Sound Editing for a Nonfiction or Reality Program, Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Nonfiction or Reality Program, Outstanding Picture Editing for a Nonfiction Program, and Outstanding Writing for a Nonfiction Program.
"Defending Jacob" secured two nominations, for Olaf Arnalds under Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music, and Jonathan Freeman under Outstanding Cinematography for a Limited Series or Movie.
The remaining nominations consist of Chiwetel Ejiofor as Outstanding Narrator for "The Elephant Queen," Leslie Odom Jr. for Oustanding Character Voice-Over Performance in "Central Park," and Outstanding Music Composition for a Documentary Series or Special for "Home."
