Those things are obnoxious. Its bad enough when they appear with a close button, but with no way to close them...!?

The only way this is going to change is if they hear about it. So Mods, can you kindly give us the e-mail address of your advertising Mafia so we can give them our 2¢. A lot of people here have some really good points. If they don't care about the banner ads they already show, why bring more in the form of popups?

EDIT: Oh yea, and people, try to keey your comments polite and smart. (Don't just say "you suck".)

A lot of people have really good points... let's see what we have so far:

    ast3r3x: "DAMN that is annoying."

    Mulattabianca: "Use Camino."

    os10geek: "Those things are obnoxious."

You a easily pleased, it appears.

Anyhow, you've been here long enough to know that we have no real access to anything other that administering the boards. We haven't been able to do the vBulletin transfer for lack of access, and don't know what's really up the the front page being updated... so we certainly don't have any say in the types of banner ads that will appear on the pages.

It's a minor annoyance, and it's not like we're paying anything to be members here. I think we can overlook a few pop up ads, can't we?

Yea I guess it looks like that. But I was referring to the many other "AI's banner ads suck" topics this past week.

Unfortunately, Pop-up ads are where I draw the line. If this becomes a problem, I will really miss you Guys/Gals/others.

So in other words no one knows who owns AI and it is only by some random miracle that it remains.

I never, ever experienced a pop-up while visiting AppleInsider.

But I do experience them over at Snaggy's and at Macrumors.

I took a look at the forums. First thread I went to was someone asking for a CD-R of an old Keynote stream.

I see you were kind enough to offer to burn the free data to a 50 cent disk for a measly $15 US. PLUS shipping.

I guess your time is more valuable than mine. I've done the same thing here multiple times for nothing.

I want a few different keynotes, especially that one. I'd even mail you the blank CD-Rs and a few stamps.
