People used Office apps because stuck(work, school, cheap windows PC/laptop) to Windows platform. Many use office App to open, read or print word/excel documents. Some needs to save cut and paste info into word and format it. Otherwise, who needs Office. And why Microsoft not supporting security patches for at least 10 years ? We all know how Microsoft software products are vulnerable to all kind of security issues(easy hacking, viruses, trojan, etc, etc).
Apple, start making cheaper MAC products now you have Apple Si and expand market share rapidly.

I say forget it all and force Microsoft to bring back Word 5.1–the pinnacle of design, ease of use and powerful enough...everything since that version has been a let down.

People also use MS Office because it has a better ecosystem for business / enterprises, MS 365,  Exchange, SQL, Dynamics, Microsoft 365, Power BI, etc.  They are far ahead of what any company, including Apple, offers for business.

Does it really make any difference if you’re paying $100 per year (let’s say, you can usually find it a lot cheaper) or $400 every four years? Not to mention you’re getting a terabyte of cloud storage thrown into the deal. The people getting it from work never paid for it in the first place, and still aren’t paying for it now.

I’m no fan of Microsoft office, and definitely not a customer – but given its normal retail price, Office 365 seems like roughly the same money out, with a small but useful bonus, to me.
