And because a news site publishes that, you BELIEVE that?  Source?  Or is it just ok that it supports your agenda?

As a developer on a few platforms, when I sign an agreement to get the source code, or to participate in a platform, I stick by the rules. If I later do not wish to follow this ageement, then I no longer will use that source code or participate in the platform. Its a matter of being honest and sticking with the agreement.

So, Facebook, you can just stop being on the iOS platform. And go somewhere else to make your money. You can create your own devices, or app store, or your own ecosystem.

Yup, it's time for the all the other scum-bag, dick wad CEO's to start jumping on the bandwagon of Apple is EVIL, after all, they need to support their brother's in arms, or maybe wallets...

BTW, ArsTechnica just CRUSHED Epic in this article:

    https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2020/08/as-epic-attacks-apple-and-google-it-ignores-the-same-problems-on-consoles/

Yeah, they totally have issue with paying the fees, uh huh...
The breakdown of Epic's Fortnite customers by platform provided in that Ars article is an eye-opener: 71% play on consoles, 17% on desktop/laptop, and 12% on mobile (so the share playing through an App Store download would be even smaller than that). Apple doesn't even remotely dominate the market for Epic's own game, and the companies that do dominate practice a very similar business model for software control as the App Store.
And then you have this .....

    https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2020-08-14-sensor-tower-apples-removal-of-fortnite-cuts-off-USD1-2b-in-player-spending

Not sure of its accuracy, but once again, it shows that people in the Apple ecosystem, do tend to spend more money. But too many developers don't think they should have to pay anything, for the privilege of having access to them. They think they are doing Apple a favor, by allowing Apple iOS users to buy software from them.

So maybe Epic is thinking that if they can negotiate just a 5%-10% discount on Apple 30% cut, Epic can bring in more profit than from all of the Android users.

Looks like mobile gaming is still growing. Specially with faster connections, more powerful CPU/GPU and high resolution screens

And it you really have time. Go to "mobile gaming" for what's relevant here.'

Gives you a little better perspective  on why Epic is all of sudden after Apple for being "greedy" with their 30% cut, even though Epic have been paying a 30% cut to MS, Sony and Nintendo for years. Right now, Fortnight is the most popular game in the Apple App Store and generate the most commission for Apple. It also generate most of the revenue from mobile devices, for Epic. Even though Apple is getting the same 30% as others for hosting Fortnight, Apple 30% might soon be orders of magnitude larger when measured in dollars, when compared to the others 30%.

It's amazing how Apple has turn things upside down. Back in the 90"s MS was determined to have monopolistic power with Windows on computers because in order for computer software developers to survive, they had no choice but to develop for Windows. This was easy to see as Windows was, (and still is), on over 90% of computers. Developing computer software for the less than 10% of computers on MacOS, was not consider a viable choice.

Now we have people saying that Apple with iOS on mobile devices have monopolistic power, even though iOS is only on 13% of the mobile devices. But many mobile software developers are facing the same .... in order to survive, they have no choice but .... as in the 90's with Windows. But this time it's......... to develop for iOS. Even though iOS is only on 13% of the mobile devices, many mobile software developers are discovering that, developing for the 85% of mobile devices on Android, is not a viable choice. Lets hope the DOJ and EU are not standing on their head when determining if Apple have a monopolistic power with iOS.
