Google Pixel 5, Pixel 4a with 5G support coming on Sept. 30
Google on Monday announced that the Google Pixel 5 flagship and mid-range Pixel 4a 5G will launch on Sept. 30, alongside new Chromecast and smart speaker updates.

The Mountain View company gave users a sneak peak at the Google Pixel 5 in August when it launched the Google Pixel 4a. At the time, Google said that the device would arrive later in the fall.
In a tweet Monday, Google confirmed that it would hold a "Launch Night In" event at 11 a.m. Pacific Time (2 p.m. Eastern) on Wednesday, Sept. 30.
Although Google hasn't revealed any details about the Pixel 5, rumors suggest that it'll be a 6-inch OLED device with a double-lens camera setup. It is expected to sport a mid-range Snapdragon processor, 5G connectivity, and special features like additional double-tap gesture support. Pricing isn't known at this point, but a non-5G version of the Pixel 5 is predicted to start at around $650.
Alongside the Pixel 5, Google is likely to announce the 5G-compatible version of the Pixel 4a. Also expected are updates to the Chromecast and Google Home lineups.
Apple's "iPhone 12" lineup is expected in October -- a bit later than usual. Because of the slight shift in release timeline, Google's smartphones are being announced before and are likely to hit store shelves a bit earlier than Apple's 2020 iPhones.

More Google stupidity. First off, Google is eliminating Chromecast and replacing it with an Android TV device with a Chromecast form factor. (Android TV devices include Chromecast functionality.) The problem? Google had the capability to do this years ago. Now it is basically too late. Second, Google could have launched both the new Google Home speaker and the Chromecast months ago ... the hardware and software have long been ready. Instead they delayed them for an October launch. Why? So they could be included in the "launch event" with the Pixels. They want to have "launch events" like Apple, Microsoft and Samsung. But here is the deal: Microsoft, Apple and Samsung are large companies who sell a lot of products. That is why they are able to have launch events. Small companies - which Google's "hardware division" clearly is - don't have launch events. They publicize their products at trade shows like CES and roll them out. Google has lost 6 months of sales on these devices because they keep deluding themselves into thinking that they are a large and influential hardware company like Apple, Samsung or even LG.
