When Epic made the decision to sue Apple, Apple retaliated by threatening to cut off a separate developer account without any allegations of that account breaking any rules. Unethical.
Slight re-writing of history, there. When Epic broke the App Store rules and then sued Apple ON THE SAME DAY to try and force Apple to let them do it, Apple examined all developer accounts associated with Epic's contact details. It saw the same credentials and contact details were being used in the Epic S.a.r.l. account and made the reasonable assumption that it was a developer account linked to a problematic entity.

Hercules killed the Hydra by cutting off each head in turn and cauterising the wound before a new head could grow back. Sometimes it's better to blow up the entire creature and save yourself a protracted battle.
