HomeKit Insider: A new AppleInsider podcast

This week, more new HomeKit products have launched or have significantly expanded availability. Molekule has added HomeKit support to its popular Air Mini+ air purifier, and that's probably paid off for them has Apple Stores have now started stocking them. This is the first time Apple has ever sold an air purifier -- and it's only second-ever HomeKit air purifier to launch, following the VOCOlinc PureFlow.

Climate controls are one use for Brilliant's impressive smart panels, and the latest version of this with HomeKit support are now being sold on Amazon. At the same time, Adobe has begun to take pre-orders -- at a discount, too -- for its Smart Outdoor Camera.

Next, Stephen also gives us yet more updates on his Switchbot saga. In the latest episode of this ongoing adventure, he has now incorporated Switchbot into HomeBridge and is getting more seamless HomeKit integration.

So that's what Stephen is up to, that's what Adobe and Brilliant and Molekhule are up to. As ever, though, we also get to cover what you're doing, by answering listeners' most pressing HomeKit questions.

Hey guys, just listened to the segment on ripping Blu-Rays, and this is something I’m doing myself. I use the Computer app on both 3rd and 4th gen  TVs with the TV app on my Mac. All my h.265 files are stored on my Drobo, which I was able to specify the location of in TV > Preferences... under the Files tab.
Don’t forget to run the ripped media through MetaZ (https://metaz.io/) to add the cover art and other metadata before importing to the TV app. If you setup MetaZ correctly, it will add the metadata and move the file into your library all in one  step for you.
Playback is great, as the Computer app on the  TVs actually downloads the file, it doesn’t just buffer a few seconds ahead. That makes FF and REW so much better!

    Morning guys!

I must admit, since this pandemic started, I have been enjoying your podcasts a lot more!  It is nice to "interact" with people besides the ones I live with and work with!  I have a question for you, have you guys ever played with weather stations?  Since I work 2nd shift, I would love to know what is happening with the weather at my house.  If I know it is snowing, I can try to leave a little early.  Most stations I have seen, require a computer to always be on and connected to the internet.  Tonight I stumbled across this:

    https://shop.netatmo.com/en-us/weather/smart-weather-station/weatherstation

I love the fact that it is HomeKit friendly, and if I get the rain gauge, I can at least have an idea if there is any precipitation.  Thoughts?  Have you guys tested any of their other products.

Thanks for keeping me and my house a lot smarter!
    Chris
