USA, the great country to live in. Screw it for your benefit and law sides with you against the highest authority of country. Now I am confident, with Chinese political structure, China will be super power controlling world economy and no one will be able to challenge their military superiority.
I'm confused, when you say "China," are you supporting the people of China or the Chinese Communist Party dictators? I hope China prospers under a free people and democratic government. Do you agree or disagree with that sentiment?

When we say China/Chinese; we refer to PRC(Communist party) and not to Chinese people. If we take religion out, more or less regular citizens are same everywhere.
How brave of you to admit that you are a vehement supporter of the Chinese Communist Party, and how cowardly of you to ignore the second question I asked.

TikTok is a threat, but not as big a threat as all the cameras and microphones that people put in their homes or outside their homes for uploading video and audio to the cloud. Many of these services upload their data to servers in China, and these servers are, by law, accessible to the Chinese Communist Party which is most likely collecting data on every person on earth.

Congress should mandate that all products which have optional upload services (including TikTok) come with product labels or daily pop-ups indicating their security and privacy concerns. Cigarette packages come with warnings, and here are a few similar warnings that would seem appropriate for webcams and always on home speakers:

WARNING: Foreign governments can legally use the images and audio you upload against you.
WARNING: Foreign governments are collecting data on you from this product without your permission.
WARNING: Foreign governments intend to use data collected by this device against you.
WARNING: This product's recording features could cause serious harm to your children including abduction.

With these warnings, the three complainants in this case would still be able to earn their income, but people will become better educated over time of the risks they are taking.
HAHAHA!   Walk outside in public much?  Drive around town much?  There are cameras EVERYWHERE recording where you are and what you do.  Facial recognition is checking you out.  Cameras read your license plate and record it along with your location.  Even police car cameras read every license plate and know who you are.

So, maybe those warnings should be on a sign inside your front door, warning you before going outside that you are at extreme risk of someone knowing where you are.
Most (but not all) home cameras have upload capability to the cloud, which is usually (but not always) in China, but street cameras tend to be owned by the government and they would usually be smart enough to know the security issue and would record to hard drives in their own country. Can you find a single example where a US government uploads its street video to China?

Your name says you are an IT GUY but you don't know this? Really?

China became super power in economy due to manufacturing, not technological innovations. Imagine US companies pull manufacturing out of China. Yeah, their economy would collapse!

China is far beyond mere manufacturing and ahead of the U.S. in several keys areas:
-- Management of the virus (it's been under control for months and their economy is fully open for business because of it)
-- Vaccines:   They have a vaccine ready to roll.  We won't have one widely available for another 3-6 months at best
-- An educated, hungry workforce willing to work (comparatively) cheaply.
-- 5G -- they covered the country with it
-- Renewable energy -- China is investing in it.   We spurn it.
-- Economy -- we just piled up a $4Trillion deficit and are paying negative real rates.  They're growing at triple our rate and have a rock solid balance sheet.
-- Education -- in standardized tests they crush the U.S.
-- A population who is proud and loyal.   We have hate, fear, divisiveness and "militias" stalking the streets with AR15's
-- A modern infrastructure that they continually invest in.   Here we have crumbling infrastructure with little or no funding to keep it up much less modernize it.
-- While they build bridges with allies we attack our allies and tear down the bridges / agreements.

But, we do lead China in weapons of war.   But, China knows we don't stand a chance against them in their region.

The U.S. has been using excuses since the 70's (half a century now!) ever since Japan crushed our electronic, auto and steel industries.

The world is invariably and unavoidably a free market.   To compete you have to be competitive.   It doesn't take excuses.

Does that mean that I'm negative against the U.S?    No, it means I understand that we need to get our butts in gear and become competitive once again on the world market.   And no, tough talk, saber rattling, protective tariffs and excuses won't get us there.

I wouldn't trade (a) my freedoms (b) my right to vote, (c) an independent judiciary, or (d) a corruption-free government for any or all of those dubious and debatable advantages. It doesn't sound like you would either, to be honest. I won't debate your list of items, but some of them seem inaccurate.

This administration seems to be on the losing end of nearly every court case not involving voter suppression (and they lose a fair number of those as well).

How very ... impotent ... these "bans" on TikTok and WeChat have turned out to be.

    That was never my point.
It was a response to a post that claimed that China could only manufacture, not innovate.

I think it is a mistake for the U.S. to underestimate its competitors.   That seldom ends well.  Many Americans seem to conflate democracy with innovation and growth potential.  Yet, democracy is a form of government, not an economic system.

When we compare China to the U.S. we are really comparing Authoritarian capitalism to Democratic capitalism.  And there, each has its advantages -- as we are seeing.
