Photo editing software Darkroom now runs natively on M1 Macs

Darkroom, recipient of a 2020 Apple design award, now works as a universal app that runs natively on Apple Silicon M1 Macs, with additional support for Intel Macs running Big Sur.

This means that users who subscribe to Darkroom+ will unlock all premium features, regardless of whether they're using Darkroom on macOS, iOS, or iPadOS.

Besides support for Apple Silicon, the app has gotten a substantial update for the macOS version-- the developers state that the iPad and iPhone versions should see updates soon.

Darkroom now emulates macOS Big Sur aesthetics, with native components such as the translucent sidebar and native window toolbars. It has also been optimized for mouse, trackpad, and keyboard input.

It also features an updated library that supports native Mac behaviors, including using the mouse to drag and drop a file into a specific folder.

The keyboard shortcuts have been updated to offer a quicker, more fluid experience, and Touch Bar support has been added to help simplify batch processing and file management.

Darkroom is available for the Mac as well as for the iPhone and iPad. It's a free download but offers several in-app purchases that allow the user to unlock premium features, including a $50 one-time purchase that permanently unlocks all premium features.

But remember, others here are feverishly working to prove this is actually the death knell of Apple, an abject failure. I could name names but I think we know who they are.
