I’m upgrading from a 7 to the mini too. Great everyone is so happy.

Work IT though, despite already offering the 12, has decided, as I am the first to ask for one, that they want to spend a few days testing it before giving it to me (for security reasons). Sure.

Not missing small phones at all! I have big hands an will NEVER go back to a smaller phone. Everyone has a preference but I don’t think there will ever NOT me a demand for bigger screens. Especially given how much media we consume on our phones vs when smaller phones were the thing.

It's still huge but no one cares for small phones anymore. Doesn't deserve the "mini" name.

I’ve no desire to update this year, but I hope the Mini sticks around as that’s definitely the form factor for me. I could stand it getting a bit smaller even. The iPhone 5 was my preferred size.
I went from a 5S to a 7 and SWORE I would never go bigger so I held on to that 7 until last week when I received this new 12 mini and I absolutely love it.
Im a guy with a size Large hand in gloves, so this has nothing to do with "tiny hands". I just prefer a compact phone. Always have. Even back before they had touch screens.
This 12Mini's size, shape & feel is everything I loved about the 5S but with a screen that is bigger than the 7 (and it seems significantly bigger when using side by side).
The camera is great and the speed is awesome.
If you liked that 5 body style, this is perfect.
I was in the same boat: upgraded from 5S to 7. After about a month I hated the size.  The mini is a welcome change, however I’d like it to be a tad closer in width and height to the 5s.  I’ve got the 7, 12 mini, and a 1st gen SE.  I’ve stacked them in a pyramid of sorts and the 12 mini fits squarely in between.  My only other complaint is I would’ve liked to have the pro camera in the mini; drop the 5g if space is needed for the camera.

I have very large hands and love my Mini's keyboard (and everything else about it, minus the battery and lack of Max camera)

I've been wanting a phone with a LESS immersive screen... I've got enough big screens elsewhere. This new Mini is a productivity MACHINE!

Just wanted to report (for the benefit of all here) that after *years* of whining about phone sizes and non-updated SE and such, that I put my money where my mouth was and have a 12 mini in my hands now.  :)

I always said that if Apple made a full-featured smaller model, I'd buy one. So, I did. I still wish they'd kept the original SE form-factor, as it isn't as comfortable as my SE and I don't even have the case on it yet. I will no longer fit horizontally in my back-pockets (which the SE does), but doesn't stick out the top when vertical, so I guess I can live with that (I can button/zip) dress pants pocket so it won't fall out.

The screen is interesting to me, as I thought people were worrying about the text-size on the smaller model. But, compared to the original SE, I think the text (default sizes) is bigger. Stuff is bigger in general, I'm finding. That's good for my aging eyes. But, on the whole, I'm not really noticing and advantage yet to the bigger screen aside from that. I guess it's more 'work space' and bigger videos, etc. but I never really felt cramped by screen size on the SE for the things I do with it. (I can just see longer lists now, or UIs are more spread out. Not a big deal.)

I'm bummed about the loss of the 3.5mm jack, and especially Apple's new 'green' initiative of not including headphones/charger. I had to order like $50 of additional cables and adapters so I can use it with my current headphones and in my car. I don't have a USB-C power-brick, so I'll need one of those too someday, I suppose. Though my USB-A bricks should be fine, and fortunately I have extra of those cables around. (What should I do with the included USB-C to Lightning?)

I'm hoping I get used to the screen layout. The 'notch' doesn't bother me much, but the top row of informational icons (and lost ones) does bug me. You used to be able to see things like alarms being set, or VPN status, etc. in the menu bar. Now, you have to go to Control Center to see that. Where stuff is and what kind of swipes to get there are also a bit of a mess coming from the SE, but hopefully I'll get used to them soon. (Waking up this morning and trying to dismiss Sleep Cycle and my Apple alarms was interesting. As well as the alerts and such. All different. And, w/o my glasses I hold my phone close... but then Face ID can't work, so I have to remember to extend my arm out for it to recognize me. That was much easier with Touch ID.)

I think I'm going to like it and be OK with it... but I miss my SE (it will be going to my son, though, so will stay in the family... at least until they don't let it work with iOS 15? I have a feeling that unfortunately, it won't make it too long after that just in terms of apps that won't update. Otherwise, it still works great).
