Looks like my Mini will arrive early. Ordered Nov 27th and expected to arrive before Christmas.

It looks like Apple has a major hit on their hands!

It bears repeating that these three models typically represent 90 percent of Mac sales. So 90 percent of the installed base sees these as a potential upgrade, and a very substantial upgrade at that (even if your current laptop is <1 year old).

Meanwhile, these models crush all Wintel competition in the same price range. So Apple might see a lot of new customers heading to the Mac (exceptions being gamers and cromag corporate IT departments).

It’s kind of remarkable that 90 percent of Macs sold will now share the same SOC, and that for all of them, that SOC is a major improvement over what it replaced.

    Way to go Apple !

Problem isn't the base configs, the time to deliver increases when you do customization. We did a base Pro(8/512) and were able to pick it up the same day, however the 16/512 Mini, won't be delivered until just before Christmas. Both were done on the same order.

I ordered a MacBook Pro with 16GB Ram and 256GB SSD on November 16th. They are telling me now that it wouldn’t even arrive to their warehouse until 1/18/2021. I was kind of shocked by that estimate. Wish I had just ordered through Apple Store now.

Here it is, Dec 4th, and the store app, and Apple’s website, is still telling me that mine will arrive between Dec 3rd and 10th. Is that odd?

Are there any "used" M1 Macs showing up on eBay yet, for 50% extra? I might sell mine for that.
Not that we've seen, but admittedly, we haven't delved that far into the scalper's market.

I broke my headlight driving through the front window of the AppleStore to bring you this opportunity to be the first kid on your block to have one!

I ordered my Macbook Pro 16GB 1 TB model back in nov 17th. That very day, the App Store app said that everything was there for my order, and I would receive it between Dec 3-10th. Today is the 3rd, and it’s still in processing. I hope it’s not going to be moved back from that.
Be on the look out.  I ordered mine (same specs) on the 11th and should arrive Monday after a week delay.  It recently passed customs and left Louisville.

Mine has been shipped already. This is much earlier than anticipated. Apple says the 14th now, and UPS shows the 10th.

It’s now the 7th, and while the store app still says it will arrive between the 3rd and the 10th, it no longer says that everything needed for my order is there. On the 4th, that changed to “Your order will be available soon”. I have no idea as to what that means. But the app still has that green line stuck at “processing”. It’s doubtful that it will arrive soon. I wouldn’t have minded so much if it had said that they were waiting for the order, or that it was back ordered, or whatever. But when it says that it’s there, then it should have shipped in two or three days.

I understand that there are shipping delays because of heavy package deliveries everywhere. But Apple buys up a vast amount of shipping capacity, so it isn’t a major problem for them. What bothers me is that my computer seems to have disappeared. First they have it for half a month, and then it seems as though they don’t. That’s not normal.

Yea! My order has finally moved to “preparing to ship”. I hope it doesn’t spend too much time there now. What’s the bet it will get here by the 10th? Not much time for that.

Especially now that UPS, FedEx and USPS are warning about delayed shipments now.

Oh yeah. I’m getting a lot of things late. My deliveries have been compressed. After waiting for delayed packages, we got nine today from four shipping companies!

ebay, which gives estimated delivery dates, is now cheating so that you can’t say something is late. You get the original date, then close to delivery, say one day before, they give a later date, and then give a yet later date the next day so you have to say it arrived on time.

I’ve never seen anything like this before. I’ve bought a lot of computers from Apple from their site, and from their app. It’s never been more than three days for processing. This time, I ordered on November 17th, and it’s just today, this morning, that I got a message that my Macbook Pro was shipped, and that I’d get it by the 17th, rather than the 10th as originally stated.

at least it’s in the way and I can start tracking its worldwide travels.

It’s automatically being shipped express. Mine is also. They said that the first day. Something is odd though, since they said they had my computer from the first day. Delays or not, why should it take an entire month to finish processing?

I did track it, and UPS says there is a delay. Well, who knows? I’ll keep updating, just in case anyone is interested.

2020 has only been a problem because of COVID. Things were going great before it hit.

I'm glad I canceled my original order and went with what I could get from an Apple Store on day 1. I didn't need 1 TB of SSD and wanted Silver 16 GB but the difference between that and Space Gray 16GB/1 TB wasn't worth the wait.

Normally, if RAM was upgradable, I’d order an amount that would allow me to upgrade to the amount I actually want, without having to remove what’s there. So for the 27” iMac I ordered late last year instead of the Mac Pro I was planning to get (another story!), I ordered it with 16GB and got another 16GB from OWC. But here, I just got the 16GB. I always get a 1TB SSD for my startup drive, so I don’t think about it and get that. I fill my startup drives about halfway (I have a lot of apps), so doubling the size is best for SSDs. I’ve never gotten Space Grey on my Macs, so I thought I’d try that.

i don’t agree with those saying to get the 8GB versions of any of these machines. That’s just plain wrong. Too many “reviewers” on YouTube bought the cheapest models, and as an excuse, said that that’s what they wanted to test, when in a number of cases, some of which I’m personally familiar with, they just didn’t want to spend the money. As we usually say to people about to buy something, don’t buy what you need now, buy what you may need in the future.

my computer moved from Shanghai China to Narita Japan.
